For those who viewed my story today. Reposting from Dec 31, 2015. This is couple weeks before finding out about cancer ⬇️⬇️⬇️
_____________________________________________ (Beware: This is a long post 😝) Alhumdulillah for 2015. Many positive changes but with many obstacles. It was hard but kept faith in Allah SWT.
You see, this was the first year in my life that I actually strived to be a good Muslim. This was the year I put in immense effort to improve my imaan. This was the year I looked inside my closet at the lines of Chanel and Louis Vuitton handbags with great disappointment and shame - how can I spend so much on these brand names when people around the world are suffering? Does the purchase of an LV really define who I am as a person? This was the year my husband and I sat down to reevaluate our lives - less wasteful spending, more giving, improve quality of prayers, raise righteous kids, etc.
Here's my #2015bestnine :
1⃣ Deleted 45 apps from my app business. One fine day just hit the delete button. Let's just say they weren't going in the right direction over the past few years. You get so involved in "money making" that you lose sight of quality and what's right Islamically. May Allah SWT forgive me. Now I am solely focused on Islamic and Educational apps, Alhumdulillah.
2⃣ Never ever would I have thought that I'd wear a hijab but it just happened by the blessings and will of Allah SWT. It's hard at times but I remind myself why I wear it in the first place. Still struggle with the pins!
3⃣ This is a tough one to share since everyone has their own opinions. My husband and I collectively agreed to get rid of riba completely. Sold our home and downsized. Paid off all loans, Alhumdulillah. We made the intention and it all just happened. Our house sold the first day it was listed! We had two weeks to move out and the only place we can find last minute was a hotel. Yup, lived in a hotel for 6 weeks. Not easy with kids and mother-in-law but Allah does not burden one more than it can bear. We made it, Alhumdulillah. (Will share more on my new blog) ...continued in comments below 👇
