Jay Z and Beyoncé, photographed walking around Paris on April 25, 2011. Hov and Bey were in the City of Love with friends and family to celebrate their third wedding anniversary, which was marked earlier that month. Never one to pass an opportunity to get work done, the couple also put in work on this trip.
Beyoncé and Parisian photographer Greg Gex also took the time to shoot the album package for her fourth studio album "4" on the rooftop of the Hôtel Le Meurice in Paris on April 23, 2011. The $22,000-a-night, 19th-century palace-turned-hotel is a favorite of Hov and Bey's when visiting the French capital. They usually stay in the "Belle Etoile" suite, which takes up most of the seventh floor, and features a stunning view of the City of Love: "I just wanna take her back to a time when everything was calmer, out in Paris on a terrace watching the Eiffel Tower, and a Ferris wheel…" Kanye West flew in and joined the couple at the Meurice on the 25th, and the rappers set up a makeshift studio in Hov and Bey’s penthouse suite to continue working on their "Watch the Throne" collaboration album. It was during this time that they recorded the infamous "Niggas in Paris"—Hit-Boy had sent 'Ye a bunch of beats and this one stood out to The Throne. The-Dream was also in the city, so he stopped by the suite and helped co-produce the Parisian-lifestyle inspired track.
Also, as we know from his "Glory" dedication, it was during this Paris trip that Blue Ivy was conceived by her superstar parents: "You don’t yet know what swag is but you was made in Paris, and Mama woke up the next day and shot her album package…" #jayz #beyonce #2011 #paris
