1989 Château Lynch-Bages from #Pauillac. This wine is still drinking beautifully, and this was a superb specimen. It had such a typical 'Pauillac nose,' with cassis, black cherry, earth, pencil shavings, and tobacco. The palate was silky smooth, with the soft tannins seamlessly integrated. Exceptionally balanced. There simply aren't many better Bordeaux wines from 1989, and this fifth growth even outperformed many of the first growths.
