🌳JOHN🌳YUNIS🌳 Villa Marcello, Levada di Piombino Dese, near Padua, Count Vettor and Contessa Carlotta Marcello, Part 6, Lacquer Room: Not sure where this is located in the house, however this is the room where the count and countess have concentrated all of their wonderful venetian lacquer furniture. According to the caption: "Furnishings with a characteristic Venetian green–painted finish are arranged in the camera delle lacche, or lacquer room. Chandelier is of 18th-century Murano glass. A painted dado and borders adorn the walls." According to the text: " 'I don't think of these rooms in terms of the treasures they contain,' says the countess. 'This is simply the room where Jacopo, our oldest son, practices the piano, while another, across the hall, has always been regarded as Vettor's study. The camera delle lacche, the lacquer room, is probably the one room whose character comes from the things in it, but that was determined by the need to keep the best pieces in a room where there was no central heating that might damage them. And the front bedroom, with it's amusing stuccowork decoration, is known in the family as the camera dei malati, The sickroom, because it's the easiest to keep warm, perhaps the most comfortable and, with a separate staircase, the best place in the house to put anyone who is sick.' I know I've been spamming the hell out of you with these girls but they're just coming along so damn swimmingly. Confession, I DREAD wig day. I get so attached to puppets in their bald stage and for the first couple hours of the day everything looks terrible and comical. Wig day down, string day is up next. (Also, I just realized the book is upside down...no comment...)

Room 29 currently holds works of French Painting from the years 1600–1700. On the right you can just make out Pierre Mignard's painting of 'The Marquise de Seignelay and Two of her Sons'. Though now not so well known, French artist Pierre Mignard was one of the most successful painters of the reign of Louis XIV. He worked for the King and many of the principal figures at court both as a portraitist and as a painter of large-scale decorative schemes.

I lost my heart to a 17th century tapestry today. 😍😭 "Shepherds and Shepherdesses Dancing," designed by Pierre Moniere and woven for Louis XIV. | #metmuseum #tapestry #artmuseum #weaving #wallhanging #textilehistory #museumday #botanical #design #louisxiv #metmuseum #details #sheperdess #dancing #garden #textiledesign #17thcentury #baroque

Oh the indignities heaped upon us. Check out Lord Digby's first wife Alice at right, married May 1656, died May 1658. She was the sole heir of Robert Bourne of Blake Hall in Essex. So, likely story: married at least partly for her money only to die childbirth two brief years later. Now she has to spend eternity clutching at her naked, erect-nippled breast in public. While at left, second wife Rachel not only gets her also-erect nipples covered with fabric, but her inscription is entirely bitchy boast about how much more she was loved. #church #inscriptions #wives #lordsandladies #bitchery #bitch #breasts #nipples #stonework #stonecarving #17thcentury #nofilter
