And this my dear is the reality. The more we allow our most influential voices to spew that "pull yourself up by your own bootstraps" B.S. narrative, the more we kill any chance at equity in this country. #15now

Last night @abcnews did a special on the working poor of America! This segment gave great insights into the realities that many Americans face day to day.
This brother Terence in this segment works 2 jobs at $8 and hour, works 16 hour days, and has to catch 8 buses just to make it to work.
He says, "Even with the two jobs he would make so little money at times that he had to choose between paying the electric bill and buying groceries." “Some may look and say, ‘It’s something you didn’t do right,’” Wise said. “And they think, ‘OK, well you should have stayed in school or should have done this.’ Well, I’m working, I have a family and we’re at where we’re at in this life right now.” "One of the hardest things he said was watching the leftover food at the end of his shift at McDonald's get thrown away. He said in many franchises, the workers are not allowed to take home leftovers because they say their bosses worry about them making excess food just so they can take it home." #lovebeyondwalls #lovecenter #instarepost20
