Bangor Lodge #1106 will be donating $2000 to assist in the beautification of the Borough of Bangor. The lodge will be donating about $1300 in supplies and participating in the Borough Clean up scheduled for Saturday May 19, 2018.
This event, spearheaded by Mayor Brooke Kerzner, will consist of 5 community groups, with over 80 volunteers to clean up in 5 areas of the Borough. The Bangor Elks Lodge will be responsible for the area behind the old Bank of America Building and through Northampton and South Main Streets. The lodge will be supplying rakes, trash bags, work gloves, and safety vests to all of the volunteers, along with soda, water, and hot dogs with all the trimmings for all of the volunteers for that day. The lodge will also be donating $700 in flowers and supplies to the Bangor Middle School for the annual school project in the downtown area that will be taking place in mid-May.
This donation has been made possible by the Gratitude Grant from the Elks National Foundation. This grant is awarded to Lodges across the United States that meet the GER member per capita contribution to the Elks National Foundation. Bangor Lodge once again qualified for this grant in 2018 through contributions by members and the lodge.
In the past year, Bangor Lodge has received $10,000 in Community Investment Grants from the Elks National Foundation. These grants are used in our community to fund events such as our Christmas Charity Food Baskets, Christmas for the less than fortunate, Veterans Baseball game, and the Summer Back Pack program for the less than fortunate.
