In SBS <My Ugly Duckling> broadcast on the evening of the 18th, Kim Jong Kook revealed why he is so addicted to exercise. He replied what his manager asked why he likes exercise: "My lumbar became crooked and diagnosed as herniated disc." He also said: "When I was in high school, there were about 3 times because of serious lower back pain. I couldn't get off the bus and stayed until the terminal station. In the first grade of high school, I got advice to exercise from the hospital. Exercise indeed improved my situation, it eased my pain. In fact, my exercise intensity has exceeded the rehab level and should be reduced. But exercise is already a habit. Not exercising can make me uneasy. I still cannot overcome this anxiety."
Earlier that day, Kim Jong Kook worked out in the gym late at night. He did 45 and 50 kg one-arm dumbbell row and hack squats with 80 kg on both sides. Those who watched the video in the studio were all surprised, but Kim Jong kook just felt "Great".
Kim Jong Kook also suggested Ha Sung Woon and Hwang Min-hyun to do lower body exercises.
He said a lot of mottos to them.
"The place you should go at this hour is not a club but a fitness club."
"Your body is not tired, but your mind is tired."
"You can't do it not because you have no strength but because of the pain."
He also persuaded them: "Your age is just right for exercise."
Kim Jong Kook continued his workout routine after Ha Sung Woon and Hwang Min-hyun left. The way he workout his abs even surprised Seo Jang-hoon, a former national representative basketball player.
After finishing exercise Kim Jong Kook went to his office to make his special formula shake. Blended chicken breast and almonds, kale, green grapes, bananas etc.
Here's another motto from KJK: "What you eat after exercise is also part of the exercise, if you do not eat properly, it is labor rather than exercise."
