So grateful that I get to travel all over China to work and that I had a day off on set to travel here! ❤️
I've always wanted to check out the terra-cotta army in person. It's mind boggling to think that these were made starting in 246 BC. That's 2,263 years ago! What's interesting is that each terra-cotta is unique; they have different facial expressions and color. This highlights how delicate the craftsmanship was. In addition to the most famous warriors, the first emperor of China (Qin/ 秦始皇）also wanted musicians, horse carriers and different servants to accompany/protect him in his afterlife. So far only 8,000 life sized terra-cottas have been dug up, but there are many left underground as the bright colored paint on the terra-cotta fades with sunlight.
P.S. maybe one day I'll be an important political figure and I can go down into the vaults and check out the warriors up close 😅
