So today I met my photo hero Arimoto Shinya(seriously his work is so good you can actually smell the colours). He's a prime example of somebody who actually goes into the world and digs up dark and real things, captures the soul of life and doesn't need to resort to the degradation of women (I'll name no names) in order to draw attention to his body of work.
I was a sweaty nervous mess and all my Japanese came out backwards but he was so nice, let me take his photo on my F3, showed me his current setup (nothing secretive about this guy). I bought his Travels in Tibet zine and the images (in colour, a rarity) are beyond words.
Massive thanks to @pm010302 for getting the conversation flowing and finding Totem for me when I was too drained to function, and thanks always to @tokyocamerastyle who so generously shares amazing info on gallery shows in Tokyo that I'd otherwise overlook in my usual state of exhaustion and mayhem.
