Alone but hopeful
In the last wildlife photography trip to the Kalmand-Bahadoran Protected area of Yazd province, I was able to see various animal species, and fortunately I was able to take many great photos from most of them. Wild animals like wild goat, wild sheep, Persian gazelle and Red Fox.
In the case of birds: Isabelline Shrike, Southern Grey Shrike, European Roller, Black Kite and finally Persian Ground-Jay: the rare bird and the most important Iranian bird, the only endemic bird in our country, came from the wonders of my trip to this beautiful area in Yazd province.
The other surprise of this my trip was observation and taking photograph from of Persian Wild Ass as freely and abandoned, the Iranian’ mammal that is in danger of extinction.
Previously, I had seen Iranian Wild Ass in Abarkuh, as well as the Darre-e-bagh in Fars province, but the pleasure of seeing such a beautiful and fairly large animal was abandoned and free in the natural and beautiful habitat, is the sweetest moments of the my trip.
This photo is taken from the free and abandoned Persian Wild Ass in the plain of Mahdi-Abad Kalmand at the afternoon of a sunny day.
I have been watching closely the efforts of the Mahdi-Abad' Rengers about protecting it.
Up to a few decades ago, most of the steppe and desertic areas in Iran were the hippodrome of large herds of Persian Wild Ass, and many number of them were seen, but unfortunately nowadays only about 700 of them remain in the confined protected areas such as Turan And Bahram-Gur protected areas.
Habitat destruction, prolonged droughts, unnecessary hunting in recent years and Making roads leading to limit this species to small areas that have a bad effect at appropriate reproduction as well as Propagation of the dominant gene. The making roads also led road accidents to be one of the major causes of the reducing the number and the extinction of this Iranian'mammal
