How could this happen to me?  I am a competitive boxer and Personal Trainer! It's my job to help my clients stay on track and give them health and nutrition advice.  Was I a hypocrite? Was my life just one big lie?  These are some of the thoughts that ran through my mind earlier this summer when I came back from my 7 day vacation 10 pounds heavier than usual. NO I am not a hypocrite I told myself as I started to get angry with myself for just being so mindless and carefree during my vacation.  I may have been care free over my vacation, but that was then and this is now.  My anger turned to focus as I started to plan out the health and fitness changes I was going to make immediately.  Here are my 3 tips that helped me lose a healthy 2 pounds a week for 7 weeks in a row.

Forgive yourself - There was no use beating myself up for having too much fun and over indulging on my vacation.  I needed to own the fun that I had, and decide to make a new choice for the future.Get started now -The best way to stop thinking is to take action.  Many people think themselves out of better health by saying things like, "I will get started once I am in a bit better shape" or "I will start in the new year." Why wait?  It won't get any easier as a matter of fact it gets harder.  It's simple science straight from Mr. Newton called inertia.  An object at rest will want to stay at rest.Make a plan - It does not have to be complicated.  It should include exercise and nutrition.  Get a calendar and write your plan on it. Then every day you will see your calendar with your goal.  At the end of every day circle or highlight your goal as you achieve it.  It sure looks good after a few weeks looking at the daily successes right in front of you! ** If you have a goal put that on there as well with a date- It will help keep you focused on accomplishing your goal along the way.

It took me 7 weeks to not only shed those extra pounds but to be at a weight that I had not seen in 5 years.  Amazingly that was not even my goal!  It's funny how momentum (inertia) are a real thing and once you get started and making better choices you find yourself on a roll that just keeps on! #SydFit
