I have worked with and coached thousands of people over my years in the athletic and fitness industry. One thing that remains a constant is that the individual who can sustain any positive change over the long haul ends up having the biggest success and goal achievement. Many people feel they need to make big changes in order to achieve their goals. This method can be done, but it takes a lot of willpower support and discipline, which are not usually in place when people want to produce change. On the flip side, if you make a small change that is achievable, it gives you confidence and a victory in a short time period. Then add in some coaching and guidance to set another goal, and over time you will create a habit of setting and achieving goals which is the behavior of champions. This process started with one simple goal like, I think today I will reach out to someone and ask for help. That's how it all started with Amber Sawyer.
Just after her second child (Arriya) arrived, Amber a wife and mother of a now 5 and 3 year old
started seriously training with us at SydFIT. Her goal was to get rid of some of her baby weight in a way that kept her engaged and motivated. After a few months of training Amber was interested in doing a little sparring, well that was the end...or was it the beginning. She soon joined our Destiny Boxing Team and started competing and won the 2016 Golden Gloves title with best female boxer honours. Then to top that off she came back in 2017 to claim the title for the second consecutive year in a lower weight division. I am sure if you asked Amber who is a full time teacher if 3 years ago she could have imagined getting in the boxing ring and beating girls almost 10 years younger then her she would have laughed herself silly. But step by step she is doing it inside and outside the ring with her husband Dave and their 2 girls Cian and Ariya by her side!
I asked Amber a few question:
What sports did you play in High school?
" I Wasn't really an athlete in school at all (I danced)..i found my love of fitness with you to be honest." #champion #badmomma #webox
