Life is tough for all wild animals right now. It has been very cold the last weeks with lots if snow, and now the top layer is frozen so hard, that is bares a grown man 😳 Innother words, very hard to find food...
Last week we picked up a young roe deer at 15kg living weight, starved and frozen to death. A friend if mine picked up 4 dead ones this week, and I picked up the first dead one in my area, a 2 year old roe deer with 3 embyos inside. There was no fat on the body, and you could almost see through the ribs 😢
It’s important to keep up the work with feeding in order to at least keep the strong ones alive.
This is not about maximizing next seasons hunt! Anything is better than a slow death by starvation.
At the same time, I wonder where all animal friends and anti hunting activists are... now there is real work to do!
