This quote feels relevant. It's a bloody good job I have quite a high tolerance for embarrassing situations. Turned up at my PT session at the crack of dawn this morning feeling all sassy and pleased with myself. Began my work out. Was doing alright. In the back of my mind the whole time was a miniature human telling me I look pregnant (see last night's post), PT sets up some circuits which include some running back and forth ("from the wiiiindowwwww, to the waaallll" 😏🎢), thought I was doing an excellent job and then he shouts "GOWAAAN PHOEBE" and anyone who makes a Friends reference (insult) is a hero in my world so I chose to take that one as a compliment, THEN, he explains to me that I run on my tiptoes (translate: like a total plonker) and demonstrates how I should be running. I'm like "SURE, I'M A MODEL STUDENT, I WILL DO AS YOU SAY GOOD SIR" and I tried to copy him. I don't know how it happened but next minute I was man down, in the most spectacular fashion. If there had been water below me you would have called it aquaplaning, I believe, alas there was not, so I just kind of glided on my melons across the very hard and solid floor, all the while maintaining the superman pose. Cue every single person in the busy gym turning away and pretending they hadn't seen a thing. Fuckssssss sake. I would've preferred if we had allll just pointed at me and laughed and then we could've collectively moved on, united by our shared awkward experience. Anyway, I'm alive, I've done 1 hour of hard exercise (the face plant is include as exercise), vowed to work on my ballerina tip toes running and I feel good. Exercise isn't the worst thing in the whole world is it?! It's still a total hairy bollock, but there are definitely bigger, hairier bollocks out there. A quick Confession / Waffle / Sob / Blaaaaah post, get ready to cringe for me: Tom's mum lives just up the road from us and she's got my little nieces to stay tonight so they all popped over to say hello. Now, Fat Tom's family are all blessed with the same body type as he is; tall, slim, gorgeous, eat what they like, do arse all to maintain those bods, etc. You know the type. Bell ends. As if I'm not always totally embarrassed about my size when I'm around them anyway.... tonight, just as she was leaving, Gracie (Aged 4) asked me (whilst stroking my stomach) "what's in your belly Auntie Emilie"...... GODDAMN kids say the darnedest most adorable things right?! πŸ™„πŸ˜‚πŸ˜­πŸ™ˆπŸ˜± Mortified. I was totally stuck for words. I like to think I'm fairly self deprecating and I'm the first to take the Micky out of myself but it's SO different when someone else says it, especially an innocent little child because then you know it's true. I didn't know what to say and I just mumbled "food...." and then turned a deep shade of purple with shame. I think I'm more embarrassed about his Mum's reaction and she loves a good story too so that's about to be told to everyone she crosses paths with for the next week. I feel silly because as soon as they left I had a little cry which is SO daft as my weight is hardly news to me aaaand she's a little child who meant nothing by it (I hope, otherwise she's fired from her job as flower girl at our wedding). Anyway, I felt the need to ramble enough that it got out of my system and it also means I'm going to work extra hard during my PT session tomorrow so it's all good. I've always absolutely despised celery and refused to believe anyone who told me they like it... but I think I'm starting to not mind it?! I think the hardest part about weight loss is finding the right balance and not losing your head. You've GOT to be motivated and focused and make some sacrifices but I also think you shouldn't become obsessed and let it rule your life because that isn't healthy or sustainable. On the left I was my lowest adult weight, ruled by the scales, living on a diet of shakes, at the gym every single day burning off double the calories I was eating, not enjoying it at all and still wasn't happy with the weight I got to. I wore huge clothes because I wasn't letting myself have new things until I got to my (unrealistic) target, didn't eat out or cook because I was trying to forget that there was any enjoyment to be had from food and I was in bed by 7pm every night to stop myself from raiding the cupboards. It was shit. Flash forward 4 years to the photo on the right: I'm a fair bit heavier and I haven't got the perfect balance yet, the scales are definitely tipping in favour of BBQs, gin and discos, however, I have a social life I love, I'm learning to try and dress for my CURRENT shape and treat myself to new clothes occasionally rather than punishing myself with old huge clothes that don't show off the progress that I have already made, I'm slowly but surely getting back into exercise, I cook every night and love it, I eat out when there's a valid occasion, I never say no to anything sociable on account of not wanting to veer off plan for a moment but I also willingly get straight back to eating better the next day and I'm genuinely, truly happy. Of course, I still have an end goal of feeling comfortable, sassy and healthy in my skin and I do want to be slimmer but I'm trying to see it as a calm, enjoyable progression to that place rather than "until I get there I'm not allowed to be happy". There are a lot of preachy people on Instagram and that's ok because those people and their will power can be very impressive and motivating, but comparison is the root of all evil. Just do you, keep trying, keep plodding along being proud of your small victories and doing your best and also remember that life is short and you should never ever stop having fun. #everythingthatpassesmylips - Everything else I had to eat and drink yesterday besides grub already posted: soooo I fell asleep last night before posting this and before setting my alarm.... it's not like me to sleep much let alone oversleep but I woke up 30 minutes before I needed to be in work.... 😢 So today my Monday is going excellently so far. My hair is a tower of knots and dry shampoo piled on top of my head, I'm wearing no make up and I'm dressed for deepest darkest winter because I panic dressed. It's very sunny. I also had no time to cook breakfast πŸ˜±πŸ‘ŽπŸΌ ANYWAY, yesterday all I had was the syn free pasta I posted, two coffee (HEXA), emergency hifi bars that I found in my car (HEXB) and some random gluten free chicken nuggets with Sriracha that I hardly remember eating (still drunk?) - syns unknown but I had 15 to use so hopefully not so bad. Syn free stodge πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ I must be very hungover because I forgot to add cheese 😱 but I'm proud that I bothered to make this as I was SO close to ordering a takeaway. SO CLOSE. I had a load of almost empty packets of gluten free pasta so I shoved them all in, cooked in a veggie stock cube, ham, tomatoes and spinach (both speed) and a bit of salt and pepper.
