For Josef Frank, the most important aspects when designing chairs were light weight, a transparent back and an organic form. We see proof of all of this in the classic 2025 dining room chair, designed by Josef Frank for his company Haus und Garten in Vienna in 1925. #svenskttenn

Japanese design student Haruka Udo created the “Dear Josef Frank” print in conjunction to the exhibition “Ten Textile Talents”, in the spring of 2018. She was inspired by Josef Frank’s imaginary, botanic motifs and wanted to recreate the spark of life that she felt in Josef Frank’s designs. Haruka describes the work process as writing a personal letter to the well-known designer. #svenskttenn #tentextiletalents_svenskttenn

Josef Frank’s Armchair 966 was first shown in connection with the 1939 New York World’s Fair, where its innovative design became a big success. The horseshoe-shaped back and flared legs appear to be inspired by the ancient Klismos and Sulla chairs. This piece of furniture is as beautiful as it is comfortable, and it works equally well as an armchair or a solid desk chair. #svenskttenn

The Window print is comprised of several common houseplants. Perhaps some of them could be found in the windowsills of Josef Frank and his wife Anna’s Manhattan apartment in Park Terrace Gardens. #svenskttenn

In Josef Frank’s “Vårklockor” wallpaper, leaves and plants are of the same scale as they would be in a blossoming flowerbed. Many familiar spring flowers such as tulips, dandelions and forget-me-nots can be found in the horizontal motif. #svenskttenn

Our capital city looks lovely in Josef Frank’s classic print “Stockholmskartan” (The map of Stockholm), here shown on one of Svenskt Tenn’s placemats. #svenskttenn
