Fear is natural. To be afraid when facing a daunting task or reality is normal and to be expected. But we tend to take that natural fear and we turn it into a lifestyle. We allow the fear to creep in at all times, letting our anxiety to become something bigger and take over. It's a daily struggle for me to move past the giants in my life and just function normally.
God has been showing me lately that I don't have to be afraid all the time. I don't have to give in to that emotion; my response doesn't have to be fight or flight....it needs to be faith. When Jesus was in the middle of the storm with the disciples, He didn't say "Buck up!" and go back to sleep. He got up and rebuked the wind and the waves, reminding them that because He was in the boat with them, they were going to be okay. Because I am a child of God, I am no longer a slave to the fear that at times seems to control me. I'm free from that, because Jesus is in my boat.
