@Regrann from @supthemag - Tomorrow we set out for the world's longest open-ocean SUP race—a 40-mile circumnavigation of Bermuda. Well, that's what the 2nd annual @devilsislechallenge was intended to be anyway, until south winds started gusting to 25-knots across the island today. Tomorrow we'll see 20- to 30-knot winds honking all day, and I supposed we should have known. Expectations for the unexpected are kinda the Bermuda Triangle's thing, after all. Such blistering wind makes a 40-mile circumnavigation excessively dangerous, if not damn near impossible. So, we've improvised. An alternate course (one a bit less life threatening) running through Bermuda's Great Sound and around it's eastern cape for a total of 30 miles is the task at hand. We'll set out in civil twilight at 6am, hoping to return by noon before the wind jacks and the thunderstorms arrive. Among the paddlers will be @annabelanderson, @jspithill, @oracleteamusa, the @atlanticsupergirls and yours truly, @SUPthemag digital editor Mike Misselwitz. We'll be bringing you the full story live on social media from the water, with a recap, results, a gallery and more following the race. Get ready for an epic adventure. .

We'd like the thank race organizers @plastictides for their altruistic ambition—saving the seas from plastic pollution, empowering Bermudian youth and providing a handful of fortunate adventure paddlers the opportunity to experience the beauty (and brutality) of this beautiful place called #Bermuda. See you on the water!
