Rest in Power, Dick Gregory.
A few weeks ago I hopped in my truck and drove a couple of hours to see Mr. Gregory perform. It was 50% brilliant, 50% madness, 100% worth it. Dick was one of the great voices of the civil rights movement. He was incredibly funny and stunningly cutting. A true, brute force. If you find yourself wanting to know a little more about why Dick was so special, go listen to his performance at Kent State. He went there not too long after the National Guard killed unarmed students who were there protesting the war in Vietnam. You will hear the sounds of a nation on the edge. It was recorded decades ago and is heartbreakingly , remarkably appropriate for today.
