According to a study conducted by the NCBI, beetroot juice contains dietary nitrates that increase nitric oxide levels in the blood and decrease blood pressure (NCBI). Drinking beetroot juice also increases athletic performance and improves cognitive functions (NCBI). Some more nitrate-rich foods include leafy greens, celery, and carrots (NCBI).
