✨ Wonderlandia Spotlight on Liquid Gold ✨
Without Instagram, I would’ve never been introduced to this amazing brand. I think I saw it first on @skinminimalist’s feed and now it seems like it’s popping up everywhere, which is fantastic! I love getting to support kickass products from small businesses 💪🏻
I was drawn to this moisturizer because of its simple and effective ingredients: ceramides, cholesterol, fatty alcohols, sea buckthorn oil. The pump form dispenses nicely because this is more like a heavy serum than a cream in my opinion. In the summer it’s the only moisturizer I need, but lately I’ve been layering it under something heavier. Still, that is a matter of preference as it is nourishing enough to use on its own. In fact, “nourishing“ is the word I most use to describe this moisturizer. It feels like instant comfort and healing on the skin. There is a slight yellow cast from the seabuckthorn oil that some people may not like. You can get around this by only using in the evening, but personally I noticed that it goes away quickly or at least becomes invisible once my sunscreen is on, so I apply morning and night. {Swipe to see in action.}
No discernible scent, and it mixes beautifully with facial oils, taking on a luxurious feel as you gently massage it into the skin. I recommend this to everyone and I will absolutely repurchase. Also I recommend following the brand! Stratia is woman-owned and run, and the behind-the-scenes peeks at order fulfillment on Instagram stories truly show that these products are a labor of love! This product was not gifted. I’m a big fat fan.

Eight little soldiers, all lined up for miscibility testing. #behindthescenes

A very unappetizing-looking science demonstration 🔬🙊 At the beginning of the video, you see the remnants of Liquid Gold's oil phase, which includes oils like sea buckthorn and rosehip, plus the emulsifiers. (Emulsifiers are molecules that grab an oil molecule with one side and a water molecule with the other, binding them together so they don't separate like salad dressing.) Without any water, the emulsifiers are just lying there, dormant. When I pour in a little water, they instantly spring to action, grabbing onto water molecules and turning the transparent oil mix into an opaque, emulsified cream. #scienceoftheday

Rewind, pre-mixing. DMAE and NAG on the bottom, botanical extracts in the middle, skin-loving goodness the whole way through.

Shhh, it's sleeping 😴😴😴 8.5 gallons of Liquid Gold (the largest batch yet!), cooling down to prepare for final ingredients and bottling.

I've got a #1empty1newbie review and it's all about #stratiaskin Liquid Gold moisturizer ($24USD/ 60ml). This serum textured moisturizer has essentially become my face's security blanket. - 🌟Overview & How It Works: Liquid Gold is a lightweight but powerful moisturizer that fortifies your skin’s moisture barrier to help heal, hydrate, strengthen, & soothe. Your skin’s moisture barrier (the stratum corneum, or outermost layer of the epidermis) has a brick-&-mortar structure: the bricks are skin cells called corneocytes, and the mortar is a fatty mixture made up of ceramides, cholesterol, & free fatty acids. This mixture keeps your skin healthy, clear, & resilient. If it’s compromised, it can lead to skin that’s simultaneously dry AND oily, extremely sensitive, or acne-prone. - 🌟How I use It: I apply a nickel sized amount of Liquid Gold in the AM before my spf & in the PM after serums - I also like to add the Stratia Fortify Facial Oil to it as well; I don't find any issues with the natural yellow color (due to the inclusion of sea buckthorn oil, a naturally red oil). This layers beautifully with my products and makeup. - 🌟Review: Once I learned about the utter importance of maintaining a strong skin barrier it was revelation for me. When we use products that compromise that barrier (e.g., sensitizing & irritating ingredients like essential oils, fragrant extracts, fragrance (natural & synthetic, harsh cleansers, etc.) we often end up with skin that is sensitized or reactive (many people confuse this with having "sensitive skin", when it may be sensitized skin).
