Providing a visual commentary on today’s standard of unattainable beauty, Vika Petlakh collaborates with Artist, Daniel Allen Cohen, to physically tear apart the notions of an ideal image within society. Women’s fascination and utter obsession with perfection is displayed in “Blind Standard” through the models evocative expression. She is covering her eye as if she doesn’t want to become a part of the societal beauty complex, yet can’t look or tear away from its allure.
The conversation continues with “Expectations,” once again shredding away from society’s proclivity to live and foster the expectation versus reality. The models exaggerated materialization and the overall emotion of the work nod to this sentiment.
