Happy WeDnDsday all! My commissions are always open, email me SteveSketches@yahoo.com for my rates and options! My rates will be increasing at the start of April, but anyone who gets on the commission list before then will be at my current rates. Friendly heads up!
Drawing heavy armor is one of my favorite things to draw! I am always happy when it is commissioned as a cel shaded or full render, then I get to really make it pop with the highlights! If you are curious about my process, I have a few stories pinned to the top of my page, "My Process" is a little more of an overview while Art Tips is a little more in the weeds, with how I color under the lines and how I add layers of shadows and highlights for cel shaded characters. I hope it's useful! I was really happy when I learned a method that was in between flat colors and a full render. Some people like jumping right into the rendering from the get go, and that's totally fine! There's more than one way to draw! I don't stick to my method when I am doodling, but for commissions, it really helps keep my hours spent much more consistent!
For example, I don't have a record of exactly how long this character took for me to make, but since it is a cel shaded character without a background or anything additional, I know it was around 8 hours of work. This includes everything from reading the character's description to the final adjustment layers. The last time I posted him, he was posted at half resolution. I hope you like him at full 1080!
Also I stream all my work on Twitch! I am putting about 6 hours in each day to do commission work, and if I am up for it, another 2 or so of personal work later. Come hang out! Twitch.tv/stevesketches
