Meet the Honorees for our 12th Annual Evening Under The Stars

Drs. Ludlow and Ruth Creary, community heroes, dedicated advocates and founding franchisees of Visiting Angels Beverly Hills, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 12th Annual Evening Under the Stars Award Show and Gala.
For more than 50 years, Drs. Ludlow and Ruth Creary have made it their life’s work to serve minority residents of the greater Los Angeles area. Their extensive community and professional service spans over decades and have had a significant impact towards the improvement of lives within underserved neighborhoods in the greater Los Angeles area.
For 12 years Dr. Ruth Creary served as the Executive Director of the South Central Los Angeles Regional Center and was also the Director of Residential Services at the Dubnoff Center for Child Development in North Hollywood. Ruth has been the recipient of numerous honors and awards; including Governmental awards from the State of California, Los Angeles City and County, the Outstanding Young Woman of America Award in 1980, Who’s Who in Professional and Executive Women in 1987, and carried the U.S. Olympic Torch in January 2002.
In 1971 Dr. Ludlow Creary spearheaded the opening of the historic West Adams Hospital. The groundbreaking facility provided over 1,000 jobs to the minority community. During the same period, Dr. Creary was also involved in the creation of Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital and assisted in the founding of a Specialty Board in Family Medicine. For over two decades Dr. Creary was Professor and Chair of Family Medicine at Charles R. Drew University and oversaw several new medical education programs which includes Medex, one of the first certified PA programs in the state of California. Until his retirement in 2002, the department remained under his leadership and is credited for training thousands of medical students, residents and physician assistants.
