Cheryl Chan (@chermanderrr) began dancing at the age of four at the Oakville School of Dance where she trained recreationally in ballet for nine years. Throughout secondary school, she expanded her repertoire to jazz and contemporary at the Oakville Academy for the Arts. During her post-secondary years, she Joined the McMaster Dance Company as a hybrid dancer where she contributed to both the Contemporary and Urban Teams. She had the opportunity to compete in and choreograph for competitions such as OUCH, BYOB and Terpsichore and in her final year of post-secondary she was proud to share the stage with her friends in the first competitions as "Vie Division" at ACAD (Academy of Hip Hop) and BYOB (Bring Your Own Beat) where they placed second and third respectively. Training for each and every one of these competitions over the years have helped Cheryl to become the focused and diligent dancer she is today. In addition to choreography, over the past two years Cheryl has delved into her love for house dance and has been training in freestyle with the goal of eventually competing in battles. In 2016, she participated in the house category for Hip-Hop vs House and Parks N' Wreck where she placed top 8 for both. Although working a fully-time job, Cheryl still continues to further her growth in dance by attending classes, workshops and sessions in Toronto. To Cheryl, dance has always been more that a hobby. Dance will always be a part of her and she will always continue to push herself to grow and become the dancer she knows she is meant to be in this life.
