Some days you just want to sit and watch the world roll by.

Saturday feels.
.
Been back in Male for a week after a few weeks of sailing on @sail_shantaram and feeling like I've been in a funk.
.
Anyone else feel like citylife drains the life out of you?
.
Scheming up of new ways to get more vitamin sea and adventure in my life.

Woke up to this today.
.
There were about nine of these families rowing around in these things, pulling in the net to catch fish, and going around selling fish and crabs.
.
They asked us for some water and we gave them some water bottles. One of them asked if I was Malayalam and I said no. I tried my Hindi with them and saidI was from the Maldives and could understand a bit of Hindi. They said I looked like I was from around here. I will take that as a good thing since people seem to warm up to me better when they can relate to me somehow.
.
Also, I need to work on my Hindi. Surely it can’t be that hard after growing up with Hindi movies in the background. Do you guys speak it well? .

The journey to Kochi, India has been windless and really smooth! Beautiful weather with sheet glass water. We were taking shifts between the four of us, and the night shifts were a bit nerve wrecking at times when there were so many fishing boats and tankers to dodge. The first night I kept imagining a ghost ship crashing on to us, or some pirate vessel coming and shooting us anytime (when you are alone at the helm in the dark with all these lights in the distance, you can’t blame my imagination for going overdrive). There were also these two huge dolphins riding the bow for a long time which was pretty cool to watch at night. .
It’s been 4 years since I have been to India! The immigration and customs people are being very sweet and making conversation about the Maldives and how they have been there long time ago.
.
It’s always nice to come back to India. We will be here at least for a week! No idea what’s in store!

After a very uneventful and soul searching 3 weeks in Male, I got this amazing opportunity to go on a sailing trip to the north of Maldives on SV Shantaram @sail_shantaram
.
It took 3 days to sail up to Haa Dhaalu Kulhuduffushi and on the way we anchored in Lhaviyani Atoll and Shaviyani Atoll. I have only travelled by sea up to Kulhuduffushi once before so the northern islands looked pretty new for me and I am amazed by the beauty of it all.
.
Learning to sail has been so much fun (although the very experienced skipper does most of the work), and I was surprised about how good the food on board is (thanks to the skipper’s wife). I wasn’t really expecting much, going sailing on a beautiful catamaran was exciting enough for me as it’s one of my dreams to live on one someday.

Amazing start to the new year. Snorkelled with about 50 sting rays, so many different types of moray eels, huge remoras, and all these schooling bannerfish.
.
This is definitely the most interesting snorkeling spot I have been to. It’s literally a fish tank! Have you been here?
.
How did you spend the first day of 2018?

Goodbye Thulusdhoo for now.
.
You have been an amazing experience. Tough but amazing.
.
Finally moved most of my stuff out and thinking out my next plan of action. Will be hanging around on the rock (aka Male) for a little bit to work on getting the blog back up again (please let there be good internet!) and see friends and family.
.
It hasn’t been easy moving out. Not because I didn’t want to leave the island, more because I didn’t fancy the transit in the city. I am already thinking of coping mechanisms, but I don’t know how long I will last here.
.
I’m feeling more self aware and realise that with careful planning and a good healthy routine, I may just survive this experience too.
.
What are your pick me ups for during times of change?

Forever thankful for consciously choosing to live by the ocean, where it is quiet and peaceful.

#Hangten days.

One of my biggest dreams is to longboard on some good asphalt roads with beautiful backdrops.
.
Any recommendations?

Dreaming of faraway islands and uncrowded waves.
.
Now that the weather has cleared up, it is time to pack up and leave soon, methinks.
.
Not really fond of packing, since I seem to have accumulated a lot of junk over the last 21 months on this island. But pretty soon I hope to own very little, and just live out of a backpack, like I used to, many moons ago.
.
Any tips for packing and reducing things? I feel like I don’t even know how to do this any more, and I am very conscious of not sending everything to the rubbish dump (one of many reasons I seem to have accumulated all this stuff people leave me with!)

Hello December! We meet again!
.
Been away from here a bit but been enjoying the off season waves. It’s amazing how much I improved in my surfing once I got to surf in uncrowded waves, and wishing it stayed like this all the time with only 5 people in the water! (what surfers always dream about). I am also getting ready to move out of Thulusdhoo this month. Almost two years on this island and now I feel like it’s time for some new adventures in my life.
.
Don’t know where I am going though. But it’s going to be somewhere surfy! “When nothing is sure, everything is possible”
.
Any suggestions for where I should go next? Any place you would like me to explore as a solo female traveller?

Happy to have sunshine again.

Oh and waves. I can’t believe how much these two things seem to improve my life so much.

Caption this! 🐢

I always get excited when another #Maldivian girl shows interest in learning to #surf .
Here is Hamna @buttercup.ham and her brother @hamoodhofficial taking their first surf lessons from @kudaissey @raalhu_edhuru

Missing these beautiful islands and the people there.
I enjoyed my time in #Laamu so much last July, after not being there for three years.
I have a feeling I will return sooner than I thought. Right now, looking at options on where to move next.

Any ideas?

Where have you been #surfing lately?

It's almost the end of season here, which means lesser crowds but still great #waves.
Wanna come visit?
