It feels like so long!! I think I forgot how to do this! 🌿🍁🌼 #avfkw #naturaldyeing

Hotel room knitting. I cast on this Lizzie last June and I’m finally getting around to the sleeves! I guess this outs me as a magic-looper 😬 I don’t mind dpns, but I’m better with magic loop. #avfkw #cocoknits #flockalong

Who’s a beautiful lady? 🖤 #cleopatraantonia #avfkw

Cherry blossom report! Biking through Oakland and Berkeley yesterday I had my eyes peeled for magnolia blooms. Most of the trees I saw were small or still working their way out of winter. But at a fortuitous u-turn I pulled up alongside this lovely tree. 🌸🌸🌸 #californialove #plantmagic

I am so happy and excited. I stood in the dye studio, and @kristinevejar had her back to me while she leaned over her hand quilting, and she spoke to me, and I heard her. 💙💚💙 If you struggle hearing or understanding people, and have access to a hearing test, do it!!! 🙌 In other news, here’s some yarn I dyed this week!

Waiting in the doctor’s office. Here’s my best nine 2017! #resist #avfkw #naturaldyes 🌿

I cannot wait for Thursday. On Thursday I go to my audiologist for my hearing aid fitting. I am so hopeful and nervous and terrified that it won’t help. I’ve been counting down the days to this appointment for weeks. I didn’t realize how worried I’ve become that things won’t improve. My audiologist says it should help right away, at least a little. And then as I adjust we’ll crank it up so it gets even better. I’m so tired of saying “what?”. I’m so tired of feeling like it’s a frustration to talk to me. I can’t remember the last time I felt this hopeful and scared all at once. 🤞

Hand-winding and casting on! 🍁 #naturallydyedspeckles #avfkw #averbforkeepingwarm

Here is the story of our eco-printing adventure! 🍁 We gathered small amounts of ~20 plants with a gamut of potential: some I had used successfully (marigold, yarrow), some my NM dye pamphlet told us would dye on wool (bindweed, snakeweed, purple asters, many more), and some we touched and smelled and said “this has some possibility!” (artemisia, a couple never identified). 🕵🏽‍♀️🌱 We used mordanted silk scarves and followed directions in #themodernnaturaldyer. We had a wonderful time. 💛💛💛

Two weeks ago I was visiting my mom in New Mexico! I had a fabulous visit. Lots of walking the dog and hiking, knitting and spending quiet time together, a little baking, and most fun of all, foraging for dyestuffs and ecoprinting! (Have to do a separate post for that.) ❤️🍂🍃🌲🌳🌼🌸❤️
