Posting this one from a few days ago purely to show the depth with accurate form and speed. Getting depth and speed above 90kg is an absolute fucker and I'm not going to lie: I've more than served my time with pause squats, 1 and 1/4 squats and literally sitting at the bottom of a deep squat hoping that
A) I don't shit myself
B) That I can get back up
C) That I don't just die

It's taken me forever to learn patience and consistency with myself, what my bloody body can do and wants to do, and linear progression is just not what happens.
Failure, regression, persistence and being a massive sweary bastard are all character building experiences which will serve you well. If you find something hard in life, be that stubborn bastard that doesn't give up. Fail, reassess and go back in 🎀

Return of the squatting ninja πŸ™…πŸΌ So, I've been a bit MIA for a canny while (identity theft, fraud, moving 3 times in 2 weeks, getting my pelvis realigned...standard shit really) but now I'm back in the rack and (touch a forest load of wood 🌲) things are moving fucking beautifully. Sole squatter since the sad departure of @r_o_c_fitness and @gtdubs but am I shite letting the confidence, knowledge and squatting awesomeness from the start of the year go to waste.

So yesterday, after attending an awesome @shredbyscience event and hearing some of the most knowledgeable minds in the training and nutrition fields (@helms3dmj and Dr Mike Zourdos), a fair few revelations were made:

1. Fan-girling over @ajmorris_ @revivestronger @helms3dmj makes me more cougar 🐱 than fan girl (couldn't quite summons the courage to speak to these guys πŸ™ˆ to let them know how much they inspire me to learn more about my own training and business)

2. Having a flexible, non-neurotic approach to my own training (once mesocycles are mapped out) means every session CAN count, regardless of sometimes less than optimal training conditions (sleep, schedule etc) πŸ’ͺ🏼

3. That my career change this year was more than definitely the right thing to do. Mental health and happiness gains all round! πŸ’πŸΌ

I'm a firm believer that the right people come in to your life at the right time, for the right reasons. And this large headed pump dragon was a timely arrival in my life just a year ago. Starting out as a coach then becoming a friend, @r_o_c_fitness is one of life's good eggs: a cracking guy, with a huge heart, filthy sense of humour and shit calves. Ok people, let's talk FAT...blubber...lard...or whatever else you want to name it as. The fact of the matter is that we ALL have it. Every body is different. Every body holds fat in different places and spot reduction simply is not a thing!

For pretty much all of my life I've been a yo-yo dieter and surrounded by negative food labelling and chat which has made any form of mental or physical progress with my body hard at the best of times. Binge eater? Yep. Anorexic? Yep. And sooooo many forms of disordered eating that would make you question what the fuck is wrong with me even more than you already do! 🀣

The purpose of this post is a #throwbackthursday to when I first thought I had this positive food shit and body shit locked down. WRONG. Bro dieting and such rigid bodybuilding training fucked me right back up and then some. I was constantly questioning my aesthetics over performance and that is so mentally damaging.
The photos are from June 2015. The video is from yesterday.
The difference for me is NOT the fat. It's the strength and confidence. And that is all fuelled by a healthy dose of eating foods I enjoy (Percy pigs are a good group), training damn hard and having high expectations of what I can and will achieve. Being lean makes you feel utter shit and weak as a crap brew; focus on health and have some damn goals. It's much more rewarding.

Adulting is fucking hard and challenging at times; it kicks you in the lady balls and that's when the negative self talk and bad shit comes flooding back IF you let it.
