Tangiers used to have an incredible number of cinemas. Directors have always been charmed by its complicated beauty and its atmosphere. It was pretty amazing to recognise the spots where Jim Jarmush had been recently. Nowadays the Cinémathèque de Tanger is a lively spot for intellectuals and cinema lovers, while many of the historic venues are now abandoned, beautiful ghosts.
The history of Tangiers is one of the most charming I have ever heard. So many different cultures met in this city, it has even been an international zone divided in up to nine parts. And everything, from its architecture to its food and even small daily details reflect its magical past.
