Tempo Squats.

Another week, another few sets of tempo squats. They are helping me get much more comfortable with squatting and helping my #mindmuscleconnection.

Swiss Bar Bench Press.

This has been a fun bench variation.

3 sets of 10 with roughly 235lbs.
I mixed this movement inbetween my high bar cardio squats to ensure I didnt lose my upper body pump.

I cheated a little less than usual by switching to some light conventional pulls off a 3 inch "block". But, I am definitely missing my cheater sumo deadlifts. 😁

Chest Day Everyday 🐡

My shoulder has been feeling better after a number of chiropractor visits. I start seeing a message therapist next week. The plan is to work with both my chiropractor and my message therapist a few times every month for the foreseeable future. So far I have noticed an improvement in my mind muscle connection, mobility and reduced pain in my shoulder while benching.
I am hoping this extra focus on my body will help improve my results when I compete at provincials this year.

Banded Deadlifts.

405lbs at the bottom and 505lbs at the top, but it feels like 800lbs. ☠
Completed 4 sets of 6 #cardio. Keeping track of sets that go past 3 reps is nearly impossible. Finished the last two sets with 7 reps because I can't count.

This accessory movement has been one of the best exercises for helping increase the thickness and strength of my back. One of my goals for 2018 is to join #teamlats and I am getting closer ever week thanks to this movement.

Completed some light pulls last night with 405lbs. I am trying to abuse some light weight in hopes it will get me over this sickness.
Taking a deload week, which means lower intensity, lighter weights and reduced volume. Using this 'opportunity' to join the #hookgripboiz, but first I need to convert my thumbs from boys into men. #ithurtsprettybad

The benefits of using hookgrip from my perspective are, 1. It will allow me to get into a better position to pull. 2. It will give me excellent grip strength. My grip hasn't really been an issue for me so far, but more grip strength never hurts, right?

1st photo is the most recent and was the result of heavy deadlifts, barebell rows and weighted pull ups. BW: ~230lbs.

2nd photo is from about 3 years ago and was the result of focusing on bench with the occasional dumbbell row and body weight pull up. BW: ~215lbs.. I don't focus on cardio as much as I did 3 years ago when I was running Tough Mudders. Now the focus is on strength and competing at Provincials so naturally I have gotten more #abercrombieandthick. 🐡

The bands were makin me deadlift last night.
395lbs at the bottom and 495lbs at the top. This should translate to a speedy lockout and some juicy glutes. πŸ‘

T E M P O S Q U A T S.☠ Despite my troubles with trying to breathe during these sets, I have a feeling these are really going to help my squat.

Forcing myself to slow things down gives me time to focus on the #mindmuscleconnection and make sure I am activating all the right muscles. I anticipate having a more consistent and efficient squat after I am done with these.

Trying out a slight bench variation.
2 inch block bench.

Started off light (255lbs | 4 x 7) to get the hang of things. I am really excited to see where things go with this. I feel like I can push some heavy weight in a few weeks if coach allows it.

These first few weeks have been tough on the ego. Lifting around 60-65% of my max is definitely not exciting but, keeping weights between 60 - 80% has always worked really well for me.
