"If you are looking for a sign not to kill yourself, this is it."
Most of you that have been following me for a while now (since before I restarted my account last December) to know that #September10 is a very meaningful day to me, and I make a post like this every year whether or not the photo being posted relates to this caption. Today is not just #SuicideAwarenessDay/#SuicidePreventionDay, but this whole month is dedicated to raise awareness in helping those who may be struggling.
Asking for help may not always be easy for those who want to pursue it, and that's why we, as friends and family, need to be supportive of the person's decision to seek help. There will be many bumps along the way, but seeing that person come out on the other side alive is well worth the trouble you both have gone through.
For those of you who have never experienced what it's like to have a loved one who is/was suicidal, please realize that it isn't easy being them, and they're not being selfish for thinking this way. Something or someone has made their life so horrible that they felt that this is their only option. Listen to them. Hear what they have to say before it could be too late. Show them that the world needs them.
For those of you who may be dealing with this now, realize that I need you. You will make it through this hard time. I promise you, you will. The dark always comes before the dawn. No matter if I know you or not, I will always be someone you can talk to. Speak up because someone out there is willing to listen and actually does care.
