The Glasgow weather is spectacular right now - 23 degrees and sunny at 6.15 pm.

The upside to all this unexpected heat is that I’m easily reverting to #australianeating. Salads and crunchy vegetables with a big water content are pretty much the only things I want to eat right now. It reminds me that cooking inside in Australian summer was total madness. If it was 32 degrees outside it would be close to 49 inside after cooking anything on our ancient stove. It will never get that warm in Glasgow but #rawfoodhabits remain.

There is an art to guiding students past their limitations and patterns of negative energy.

When I teach it therefore helps me get past myself and to look into the eyes of the students in front of me to see what they really need to learn today with compassion and love.

What is the back story of your life that is holding you back?

Nearly 30 years ago I sat my first driving test. I’d prepared for months, studied my #HighwayCode, practised driving and I felt ready and safe on the road.
.
On the day of the test I drove well and was looking forward to hearing that I’d passed. When the examiner told me that I failed due to one of those random third party unforeseeable things I actually yelled ‘You’re kidding me?!”. A car was parked right next to the traffic lights and he asked me to turn left at that set of lights. I did so from the right hand lane and chalked up two major errors right there.

I sat my test 2 more times that year but each time my confidence plummeted and my driving got progressively worse, less confident, hesitant and each time I failed I thought ... that’s it for me, I’ll never pass my test.
.

Quite simply I had started to doubt my gut instinct and that lead me to believe that I was not a safe driver. A damaging and limiting self made fiction.
.

.
For the next few years I stick to cycling as a commuting option.
🚴‍♀️
. 🚴‍♀️ .
.
I loved the freedom of cycling and it would always cheer me up finding my way around Glasgow in the safest, most scenic way.
. 🇦🇺 .
When I moved to Sydney it became clear pretty quickly that cycling was not a safe commuting option.
#Convinced by this time that I wasn’t a safe driver I decided that public transport would my only transport option.

I created a box 📦 for myself.
.

Today I changed my story.

.
I completed my #CBT #scootertraining safely and confidently in rush hour traffic around Glasgow.
.

Today shows me the power that our own stories have over us. .

We have so many ideas and meanings and beliefs attached to who we are, and when we allow ourselves to step out of this self constructed box, we change what is possible for us and our lives.

I’m excited about the journey ahead. So much to look forward to.
