Two weeks ago had me in a somber mood. I'd flown that weekend into London for work the following week. It had only been a few days after the Grenfell Tower tragedy. Since I've been to London many times before, I thought to spend what would have normally been a fun weekend on volunteering instead. Wasn't sure what I signed up for when I indicated that I wanted to be at the Grenfell site to volunteer. Victims have been receiving a massive amount of donations from good folks so I imagined myself sorting out the donated items at the community centre. Eventually I ended up volunteering at a community art centre. They had planned on an art bazaar before the fire happened but it didn't make sense to selfishly carry on with the bazaar idea. Instead, they decided to raise money for the victims.
Here's a pensive picture to illustrate my mood when I volunteered at the clay modelling corner. Children and parents visited the centre over the weekend, also coinciding with Father's Day, to participate in arts and craft activities, purchase art and make art. The last picture is of what I made for the Desert of Dreams: what I would have wanted in a desert - a pool and much love... .
