Loving this #cockleshell lace top by @hazel_tindall_ . It’s a beauty! 🙌🏻 No pattern.. all in Hazel’s head!

There’s definitely an air of autumn right now. But we’re in denial and remembering the sunshine from a couple of days ago. Love the tranquility of this sunset, captured on the westside of Shetland, and its gentle hint that September is not far away. 📷 @southmannorth

Looking for colour inspiration? We love how @kastaniestrik has set out her @jamiesonsofshetland #spindrift in shades of blues and greens to help plan out her next project.

Clipping day is always a collaborative activity. This wonderful summer image captures a family working together on the uninhabited island of Papa, just off Scalloway. It forms part of the Berry Farm Estate. 📷 @ze1christie

It was a real treat to visit the #cunningsburghshow today and see the amazing knitwear and lace on display. So inspiring. 🙌🏻

We love this work in progress by @gretesp of a design by visiting SWW tutor @torirotdesign.
Could just dive into those colours too 🌊🐑 #jamiesonandsmith #jamiesonsofshetland #shetlandwool #fairisle #knittersofinstagram #fairisleknitting

Buttercups gathering up the hentilagets 🐑🌼 Hentilagets is the Shetland word for describing those tufts of wool lost from sheep’s backs. We love the black and white woollen tufts that have gathered here.

Everyone who signed up for SWW premium membership 2018 will also receive this cute project bag inspired by @shetlandhandspun’s #merriedancerstoorie. It’s exclusive to SWW members and there’s plenty of space for all your #Shetland projects.. Membership closes on Sunday 29 July. Link in bio.

Here’s a sneak peek at the Shetland Wool Week 2018 Premium Members’ wooden brooch, designed and made exclusively for us by @donnasmithdesigns. This jumper was sold in the 1990s as the Prince of Wales Jumper, being a copy of the jumper he wore when golfing at St Andrews in 1922. This event triggered a huge fashion craze for Fair Isle jumpers, resulting in a massive industry.

Fair Isle knitting hasn't changed much from the late 1920s. However, throughout the 1920s in the years after the War, Shetland knitters experimented with both colour and pattern, demonstrating much creativity and innovation.

Chemical dyes had become widely available in the 1920s, and the Prince of Wales' pullover is a good example of experimentation with colour. It introduced orange and green, setting them against an innovative fawn background. #repost from @shetlandmuseum #shetlandmuseum #textilecollection

Love where this jumper is heading. It’s the work of @alyssa.margaret, one of our newest SWW tutors. The design is her own and is inspired by her favourite elements from other patterns. Knitted in @jamiesonsofshetland yarn, it looks like it’s going to be a cosy one 🐑
Hope we get to see it at #shetlandwoolweek2018?

What a perfect summer capture! Puffins on Fair Isle with Sheep Rock in the distance. We’re a little bit envious of @loritimesfive who has been enjoying an island adventure there over the last few days🌿🐑
