@novey.b is the VP of partnerships for @blktechinteractive and holds down the fort while I toil away in grad school. She orchestrated our first major national corporate deal with @airbnb and continues to push our work forward. Her resume includes running campaigns for everyone from Vitamin Water to Wild Wing Cafe and expanding venture capital pitch competitions to the South East. She also happens to be one of my best friends I’ve had the privilege of knowing over the last decade. Learn more about her story at blktechinteractive.com #BLKTECHCLT 📷: @acjphoto

My auntie loves me and takes way too many pictures of me. ❤️❤️❤️

Hosted a few engineering, cs, IT, and comms students from @johnsoncsmithu yesterday at @blktechinteractive.

Can we start planning my May 16th master’s shower, please? 🙋🏽‍♀️

Chatting with @wccbcharlotte at @blktechinteractive this afternoon about Charlotte’s growing tech scene. Told some hard truths about inclusivity and investment. Yes, we can distinguish ourselves as a market, but we can’t do it without everyone at the table and a budget to charter the work. Full interview tomorrow evening at 10pm.

Observing the changes around her, Wells decided to become a journalist during what was a golden era for black writers and editors. Her goal was to write about black people for black people, in a way that was accessible to those who, like her, were born the property of white owners and had much to defend. [...] Her commitment to chronicling the experience of African-Americans in order to demonstrate their humanity remained unflinching. “If this work can contribute in any way toward proving this, and at the same time arouse the conscience of the American people to demand for justice to every citizen, and punishment by law for the lawless, I shall feel I have done my race a service,” she wrote after fleeing Memphis, “Other considerations are minor.” Via @nytimes

Brief stop back home before another morning flight and these beauties arrived in the mail! I purchase a pair of @lorrainewestjewelry hoops a few months ago for every day slay. Well, on one particular train ride home, one of my precious hoops fell out of my ear without my knowing it. I arrived home hoopless and immediately ordered another set. I shared my dilemma with Lorraine who immediately instructed me to send her my lonely earring and she would turn it into something spectacular...and that she did. I never feel complete without a beautiful pair of earrings. Thank you, Lorraine for these gorgeous upcycled crescent new pieces. You took a major loss for me and made it something of even greater value. I’m so grateful for your work and look forward to adding to my collection. #jewelry #bkmade #artisanjewelry #sustainablejewelry #lorrainewestjewelry

All the ecosystem builders on the stage responding to the same idea: yes, we can change black wealth; yes, we can raise the intellectual capital of our communities; no, we’re not asking for hand outs, we’re asking to play the game to help this country survive. #HBCUSXSW18 #SXSW
