Okay, I need to brag about my soccer team for a bit (super proud coach over here). For starters, we won today!! That might not seem like a big deal, but after losing the last 5 games…yeah, it’s a big deal lol.
The Hurricanes have overcome so many obstacles and disappointments this season. Doesn't help that we're known as the misfit team of the league. The other teams have been together for years, probably most of their lives, and are coached by the boys' dads. My guys got a new coach and a bunch of new players, which meant starting at the beginning and learning how to work together to become a team.
Their improvement week over week has been incredible to watch. Even the refs take notice and always make a point to tell me at the end of a game. Who knows, maybe they just like an underdog....but who doesn't? :)
I am SO proud of the way my boys have grown together as a team, how they persevere and overcome adversity. I have never seen a group of boys lose so gracefully...5 times in a row! No complaining, no pointing fingers and blaming each other, no low self-esteem attitudes....they have been ROCK STARS!
Even today when the other team was ragging on my boys about being last place in the league and how easy it was going to be to win. My boys never got into a yelling match or bad mouthed the other team. Instead, they lived out one of my favorite philosophies and proved that actions speak louder than words.
I am tremendously proud of these boys and truly honored to be their coach. <3
