The most wonderful time of the year....🍁🎃

My newest favorite hack for hosting big meals is to make large batches of cookie dough, scoop into balls, freeze on a baking sheet for 25 minutes then store in freezer bags. On the day I am hosting people it’s easy to pop cookies in the oven quickly for super fresh, still-warm treats. These are some compost cookies a la @christinatosi and dark chocolate pistachio cookies from @twopeasandpod.

It’s another Jewish holiday tonight! The month of never-ending holidays, one more obscure than the next, is upon us. Tonight begins Sukkot, when we eat outside under a sukkah. I’m, yeah google it. I’m serving up some Tuscan-style liver with slices of fresh sourdough to start and I’m very, very excited. #isitdinnertimeyet

SEIZE THE FUCKING DAY. And maybe stick two pickles in your mouth.

I stupidly didn’t look at MY OWN recipe and then didn’t have any malt barley for my bagels. I improvised with honey + molasses in the dough and then boiled the bagels in water with honey and salt, a little touch of Montreal. Almost time for post Yom Kippur break-fast and I hope these slightly improvised bagels still got that crusty New York edge.

One simple fat plain challah for pre-fast dinner. Even though no one in our house is really fasting, but ya know, tradition. For those who are fasting, I hope it’s meaningful. And if you’re not fasting, I still hope it’s a meaningful holiday if that’s your jam. As they say, gmar chatimah tova.
