This weekend marks the one-year anniversary of the historic Women’s March, when millions of people across the country (and around the world) took to the streets in solidarity and protest. Thousands of people marched across the country today. The main event this year will be The Women’s March: Power to the Polls, held on Sunday, January 21, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Las Vegas event will launch a national voter registration tour that will target swing states and push for more women and progressive candidates to enter government positions to influence change. The photo seen here was from New York City today where more than 120,000 people marched.

“Whether or not your hair is on display, doesn't affect how much you care about it," British beauty blogger and model Amena Khan (@amenaofficial) says in L'Oréal Paris's new hair campaign. Khan is clearing up misconceptions as the first hijab-wearing woman to be featured in a major mainstream hair ad. "Why is it presumed that women that don’t show their hair don’t look after it," she told Vogue UK this week. "The opposite of that would be that everyone that does show their hair only looks after it for the sake of showing it to others. And that mindset strips us of our autonomy and our sense of independence. Hair is a big part of self-care.” Hope to see more diversity in future campaigns across every industry. 📷: @lorealhair

USA Gymnastics announced yesterday that they have cut ties with Karolyi Ranch—the facility in Hunstville, Texas that has served as a training center for the country's elite gymnasts for over 30 years. This news comes just a few days after Olympian Simone Biles released a statement alleging that team doctor Larry Nassar sexually abused her. Nassar now stands accused of sexually abusing more than 140 girls and women throughout his career, including Biles' Team USA teammate Aly Raisman, who, in court testimony today, said that USA Gymnastics is "rotting from the inside." This week Biles also called for the shutdown of Karolyi Ranch, where much of the abuse was said to have taken place: “It breaks my heart even more to think that as I work towards my dream of competing in Tokyo 2020, I will have to continually return to the same training facility where I was abused,” she said. —
Absolutely nothing can make up for the years of unchecked abuse inflicted on young girls during this shameful and inexcusable history, but we're heartened to know that no one will have to return to the scene of this trauma.

The @timesupnow momentum did not end after the 2018 Golden Globes—the organization continues to work toward amplifying the voices of women and men across various industries who have experienced sexual harassment and assault. In support of this initiative, our parent company @CondeNast has partnered with @ebay to auction off 39 all-black outfits worn by female and male celebrities at the award show. All proceeds will support the #TimesUp Legal Defense fund, which provides legal support for those battling sexual harassment and assault in the workplace. Spot on. We couldn't have said it better ourselves, @kaisafit. Thank you for this beautiful reminder. 💕 #TeamSELF

Cindy Crawford and her trainer Sarah Perla Hagaman‏ recently showed off a jump squat/ball slam move that you might want to consider adding to your routine. Combining the two moves is a great example of a compound exercise—a type of exercise that works multiple muscle groups simultaneously. These moves provide a bigger cardiovascular challenge than each exercise individually, certified trainer @strongaimeerose tells SELF. If this move seems too intense, it can be modified depending on a person's individual range of motion. Learn more about how to properly do these exercises through the link in our bio. | 🎥: @cindycrawford with @SarahPerla1 | #TeamSELF

In a recent @voguemagazine interview, Serena Williams gave details about the emergency C-section she underwent during her daughter Alexis’s birth and the scary medical complications that followed. Williams, who has a history of blood clots, experienced a pulmonary embolism (a life-threatening condition in which a blood clot travels to the lungs). After Williams’s interview was published, she received an outpouring of support from fans—especially black women—who’d faced similar complications. This week, Williams addressed the racial disparity in pregnancy-related mortality in a Facebook post, highlighting that black women are significantly more likely to die due to pregnancy-related complications than women of other races. Tap the link in our bio to read Williams’s full post and learn more about the risks of blood clots during and after birth. #TeamSELF

"The day I shaved my head was the most empowering moment of my whole life. The last strand of hair cut off was the moment my whole face was on show and I couldn’t hide behind my hair like I used to. The only image I had in my head about what I could possibly look like is Charlize Theron in Madmax. As I looked at myself and couldn’t see my old self, I realized that now; I have a job to do and that is to inspire other girls that your image or exterior part is not what I think is important. What I find important is caring, loving and inspiring other girls," @milliebobbybrown, Eleven on @netflix's @strangerthingstv, wrote on Instagram over the weekend. Just another reason to love this young woman. ❤️ #TeamSELF
