Day 3 | Luang Prabang (swipe right)

Today we took the the waterways of the majestic Mekong on board of the luxurious @mekongkingdoms
We explored the river, visited the fascinating Pak Ou caves and we stopped at the Pha Tad Ke botanical gardens for a tour 🌿 All of this whilst being served the most delicious food! ~ Maria

Our second day in Luang Prabang couldn't have started better... an early wake uo call in anticipation of the 5:30 am Alms giving ceremony. Witnessing the saffron robed monks walking down the streets of Luang Prabang collecting the donations is an experience that will say with me forever. ~Maria * Please do be mindful when observing the ceremony, try to keep your distance, allowing the monks to continue to practice this centuries old tradition in peace 💛

DAY ONE: Luang Prabang

A delicious first day spent trying local delicassies, exploring the city and its stunning temples; learning about Laos' history and culture and experiencing its delicious night market.
The city is particularly beautiful at this time of year, the mountains lush and green, the sun has been shining and the very occasional shower has been wonderfully refreshing.

Nick and Ed took a long 7 hour drive from Lhasa, through lunar-esque landscape towards Gyantse en route to the Everest base camp. This is Tibet.

Nick has been spending his early days in Tibet wandering the streets in Lhasa, exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Potala Palace and the Jokhang Temple. Tibet's spiritual centre, which was originally built in 647 by King Songtsen Gampo, brought Buddhism to the region and is a strong part of Tibetan history and culture.

The epic 40 hour train journey ride from Beijing to Lhasa, averages 5000m altitude, at reaches 6200m at one stage!
The journey covers most of the width of China, the city soon gives way to open lunar esque terrain with the most impressive being once up on the Tibetan steppe. Rewarded with the Potola Palace on arrival and a walk around Lhasa.
