I recently changed the theme of my blog (it looks far better on a desktop than a mobile device) and just uploaded a new post! I talk about why it's a okay to be picky about what you read, the concern I face with my favorite genre, and a list of my all-time favorite books. Feel free to stop by and leave a comment! And for those who are curious: I AM filming my YouTube video. It's just taking me forever to edit because I've never done this before ☺️ #bookstagram #thesecrethistory

Here's a better photo of the book I was talking about in my previous post (considering in that one, it's covered behind a tree) ☺️🌲 #Scourge by Gail Z. Martin! I'm nearly half way through and I've already grown so attached to these brothers. {#bookstagram}

You know that feeling when you come across a book you've never seen before that has a beautiful cover AND an intriguing synopsis? Well just last week I found #Scourge by Gail Z. Martin and fell in love. I have a feeling this will be another favorite of mine! Here's the synopsis: "In a city beset by monsters, three brothers must find out who is controlling the abominations.

The city-state of Ravenwood is wealthy, powerful, and corrupt. Merchant Princes and Guild Masters wager fortunes to outmaneuver League rivals for the king’s favor and advantageous trading terms. Lord Mayor Ellor Machison wields assassins, blood witches, and forbidden magic to assure that his powerful patrons get what they want, no matter the cost.

Corran, Rigan, and Kell Valmonde are Guild Undertakers, left to run their family’s business when guards murdered their father and monsters killed their mother. Their grave magic enables them to help souls pass to the After and banish vengeful spirits. Rigan’s magic is unusually strong and enables him to hear the confessions of the dead, the secrets that would otherwise be taken to the grave. When the toll exacted by monsters and brutal guards hits close to home and ghosts expose the hidden sins of powerful men, Corran, Rigan and Kell become targets in a deadly game and face a choice: obey the Guild, or fight back and risk everything." #bookstagram

My little brother was climbing a tree so I threw him my book and had him pose 🌲 I loved The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater so I'm hoping her latest novel, All The Crooked Saints, lives up to my expectations! I'll have a review posted closer to the publication date in October 🍂 #bookstagram

"Maeve, daughter of Lord Sean of Sevenwaters, was badly burned as a child and carries the legacy of that fire in her crippled hands. After ten years she’s returning home, a courageous, forthright woman. But while her body’s scars have healed, her spirit remains fragile, fearing the shadows of her past.

Sevenwaters is in turmoil. The fey prince Mac Dara is desperate to see his only son, married to Maeve’s sister, return to the Otherworld. To force Lord Sean’s hand, Mac Dara has caused a party of innocent travelers on the Sevenwaters border to vanish—only to allow their murdered bodies to be found one by one.

When Maeve finds a body in a remote part of the woods, she and her brother, Finbar, embark on a journey that could bring about the end of Mac Dara’s reign—or lead to a hideous death. If she is successful, Maeve may open the door to a future she has not dared to believe possible." Loving every bit of my current read #FlameoftheSevenwaters by Juliette Marillier 🌙✨ #bookstagram

I recently saw a screening for The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls and was lucky enough to attend a Q&A with the author and the costars Naomi Watts and Brie Larson! I swear I was going to pass out from sheer excitement. All three women were so empowering and inspiring (Jeannette especially- she's such a strong public speaker)! The movie made me cry profusely in moments of anger, sorrow, and happiness. It was such a roller coaster of emotions. From a cinematography perspective it was equally as magical: gorgeous imagery, soundtrack, and portrayals of the book characters. I think it stayed very true to the novel which in turn made it a huge hit for me! Glass Castle is now out in theaters, so don't forget to get your movie tickets! You can see segments of the Q&A and my overall interpretation of the film by clicking the link in my bio or visiting my blog. A huge thank you to @lionsgate for arranging everything ❤️ #bookstagram #theglasscastle

I can't wait until the ground is covered in vibrant leaves again (this is an old photo) 🍂 It's finally starting to cool down! #bookstagram

I mentioned a week ago that I had a surprise and for those of you who guessed booktube.... you were right! I've been meaning to start one for such a long time, but now that I'm moving again I've decided it'll be nice to begin with a clean slate. Feel free to leave me some questions below for my first Q&A vid! 🌹 (also sorry for the selfie but I really enjoyed my makeup) 🎃

Some of you may have seen from my stories that I went to a Fleet Foxes concert last night and it was AWESOME. They're my favorite band and just to see how many fans they have and how many other people knew all their lyrics made me so happy. I hope they tour again soon! ❤️ Who's your favorite composer/ band? #bookstagram

I haven't been getting much sleep lately so I'm trying to cut back on my coffee intake, but being a barista is definitely making it more difficult. Instead I'm sticking with peppermint tea (sometimes cinnamon) ☕️ I'm going upstate tomorrow and I can't wait to see the mountains again! I hope you're all doing well 💕 #bookstagram

Nothing makes me more excited than when the temperature drops at night and the wind picks up. It's so atmospheric 🌙 (notice the small crescent moon above the trees!) I've been watching a lot of K-Dramas lately and I'm obsessed with Scarlet Heart Ryeo (bawled my eyes out at that cruel ending) and just started watching Goblin by recommendation from Réh @myfictionalbubble ✨ What are some shows you've recently started watching?

*stares off into the dusk* Do you hear the crows? They're telling us @lbardugo's upcoming novel The Language of Thorns will be epic 🕷💫 TLOT is a collection of Ravkan folk tales and I'm so excited for the official book to come out because ever since I read Shadow & Bone I've fallen in love with the #Grishaverse! Leigh is one of my top 3 all-time favorite authors, and she continuously amazes me. #bookstagram
