21 years ago today my family lost one of its most important members. The Mother of my sisters and I, Wife to my Father, Sister to my Uncle, Daughter to my Grandparents ( featured in the photo, who are gone as well), and a friend to many. After all the things I have been able to accomplish over the last couple years, I look at this day a bit differently now. As I reflect on a day that is challenging, painful for me and my family, I smile in pride. Through the loss of a parent I have gained something. A fierce loyalty to my family, to stick through and hang tight no matter how tough times can get. I am thankful for that. I ask, for anyone that knew her to think of her, remember her today for the amazing woman she was, and to possibly share a story of her. Today we honor and celebrate the life of Phyllis Beth Cooper Isaacs. I am who I am because of her, and take her with me every where I go.
