Ben Napier | Scotsman Co.  Home Town on HGTV Tuesday nights at 10 est | 9 cst, History-inspired woodworking from Laurel, MS by Ben Napier

While @erinapier isn't as much into shopping as her best friend, @malraz, throw her into a market with old American flags 🇺🇸, worn leather bags, forgotten oil portraits, broken in American made boots and she'll go for broke.

By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
Their flag to April’s breeze unfurled,
Here once the embattled farmers stood,
And fired the shot heard round the world.

Emerson, "Concord Hymn" 🇺🇸

The 12 butcher blocks from last night's episode are headed to 11 different states. Thank y'all so much for supporting our shop, @laurelmercantile.

When we made the countertops for the Rice kitchen, I purposely made them too big. @napewiththej and I used the excess left over slabs to make these 12 limited edition butcher blocks. These edge grain butcher blocks are hand constructed from mixed species hardwoods in my downtown Laurel wood shop, then we oiled and finished each with the Scotsman Co. brand. Once these 12 butcher blocks are gone, they're gone forever. Check the link in my profile #HGTVHomeTown

Last week I got to build the wainscoting for the Edwards dining room. @erinapier matched the paint color to a detail in that beautiful old wallpaper. Tonight, I get to build something that's equally eye catching for the Rice family. Y'all be sure to watch at 9:00 central, 10:00 eastern. 📷 by: @bethmorganphotography

Name that movie

For a community to be strong, the schools have to be supported. @jobforjim has been diligent about supporting all of our Laurel Golden Tornadoes. He's a member of the school board, his daughter will start in the school system next year, and tonight he helped host the first meeting of the newly reformed L Club. A membership only LHS football support club. We like to say that Friday night lights started in Laurel and that Jim is our own Buddy Garrity.

Tuesday night, y'all got to see the library ladder on #HGTVHomeTown, but you didn't get any of the details. We included a bead on the rails to match the original cabinets in the kitchen. That way it feels like it was always a part of that room. We used red oak for the rungs, which were notched into the pine, and then we drilled out and used 1/2 inch dowel rods for extra stability. You also got to meet @bjackson010. He helped bring all of my designs to life. He's the most talented woodworker I've ever had the pleasure to work with. @erinapier said, "calling Bryant a shop assistant is like calling a Corvette a grocery getter." Swipe through to see the process

Those green eyes, though 👀
In tonight's episode, we find a room full of beadboard. @erinapier loves beadboard. However, she doesn't love hot, stinky, water-damaged-carpet rooms. #HGTVHomeTown 10/9 central
