JT, Tamra, Kalon👣, and Hiro🐾  Skoolie Life, Adventures, & A Cute Kid. 🚌 Full-time in our DIY skoolie since 12/2015. 📍 Texas ➡️ Colorado

I sprouted this little guy from a piece that had fallen off of a friend's huge jade plant. Her plant is so beautiful I can only hope that one day this guy will grow big enough to be as magical. .
.
Typically I did not have a green thumb before the bus, the only plant I could keep alive was a peace Lilly because they are near impossible to kill. .
.
Do you have a green thumb?

Fall vibes. .
.
Plants moved further into the bus to stay warm, reflectix up in the windows, curtains closed, and rugs down. .
.
The high today was 40° and rainy. I hope us Texans can survive our first Colorado winter this year!

When you drive with your wooden letterboard up.

Winter is coming y'all, how are you in colder climates preparing? .
.
The steps need some paint love, but I bought these coconut coir mats and cut them to size for the steps. Why? They will help with insulation and they are good for trapping dirt and snow so you don't track it inside (even though shoes should be taken off at the door, it doesn't always happen and we have a dog). .
.
I've also started laying down the indoor rugs, which have so far proven to make a dramatic difference. I used good thick grip drawer liners as no slip mats under the rugs. Why? Because it's way cheaper! I got two twenty inch by four foot mats for $13 vs what I was looking at for non slip rug mats of comparable quality one twenty inch by six foot was $19!

A little less Monday. A lot more of this. .
.
We spent the weekend in Vail for my sister's wedding and are needing a little time to recuperate. So movies and snuggles it is. The mess can wait.

If you were to ask me the worst thing about living tiny... Hands down... Easy decision... Doing this. .
.
While composting toilets are great for many reasons, like being good for the environment and for their off grid capabilities, cleaning them is not fun. .
.
If you've emptied your pee tank or composting bin without getting bodily fluids or feces on you then you truly know the real meaning if #WINNING

Have you ever used the Crayola bathtub crayons?!? .
We love them! Kalon loves bath time if it's play time, but hates actually getting his hair washed and body bathed so we use all the distractions possible! The blue circle is a silicone stopper that we use to cover our drain. It's 6" and I wish it was a little bigger but it's the largest I could find. .
.
As you can see our shower turned into our dog food and water house because water got spilled in his kennel way too often plus this makes it much easier for many reasons. .
.
BUT.... How funny is it to see a range next to a shower!!! 😂 #buslife

Some times I think it's easy to live in this false sense of reality of pretty pictures. However, honestly I feel like such a fraud most days because it almost always looks like a tornado just came through. .
.
Kalon's favorite thing to do is throw pillows, toys, blankets, etc all around everywhere and then not touch them. It's like he feeds off chaos and is only happy when he's made a mess. Kids right?!? .
.
Despite picking everything up last night before bed, there is now dirty dishes in the sink, crap strung everywhere, and things always needing to be done. Yes...I know it's hard to believe, but we do actually live here!!!

Looking at these plants means so much more to me than one may think. .
.
The hanging ivy is from my Granny's funeral and that's her old macreme hanger. The orchid has always been one of my favorite flowers and my sweet neighbor gifted me that. The bonsai was an anniversary gift from JT in 2016! The citronella is a sign of my despise for mosquitoes. The little rubber plant was a birthday gift from a sweet friend in 2016. The aloe is a mix of plants from my Granny's pots and my little sister. The basil... Well because caprese salad is life. .
.
So while I may not need things to remember these people or moments in life, these things act as unintentional reminders for me. They cause me to slow down and be thankful. They cause me to sit, stare, and take a trip down memory lane. More than that, on a less serious note, they are also reminders that I don't fail at everything because somehow I've managed to keep these babies alive. Lol .
.
Do you have things that hold meaning to you that you have had a hard time letting go of or better yet decided to make room for in your tiny life?

Cool nights, a fire, good friends, and good food is what it's all about. 🔥 .
.
Fun fact: our fire pit is a school bus wheel. 😂

Monday.Vibes.ALL.DAY.LONG.
.
.
These floors have seen a lot of tough love over the years between shows, pups, friends, babies, and us. Though they may not look new anymore, it's a constant reminder of the adventures of life. .
.
Today I'm using the reminder as motivation to conquer this day and live this life like it's a blessing!!!! What's your #mondaymotivation ?

Not taking life too seriously will serve us well in life. .
.
We fall, smash our faces, but we get back up, laugh it off and keep moving. .
.
I think often it's easy to look on social media and think those people have their shit together and imagine that others are living a perfect life. Truth is we all have those moments where we fall, but the important thing is that we DO get back up! .
.
Together we are stronger so today if you see someone struggling I encourage you to lift them up. Today, if you need that push reach out to someone. We all get by with a little help from our friends! 😉
