Scecina Football

Another Scecina football season has begun. We are very fortunate that a Scecina Alum donated a beautiful piece of stained glass art showing the Scecina Crest with the Crusader overlaid on a football field. This piece of art has a value of over $800.
We will draw the winning ticket for the window on August 31st at our team dinner. Contact Coach Hurrle if you are interested in purchasing chances for this beautiful stain glass piece of art and supporting your Crusader football team.
Ticket Sales: 1 for $1
7 for $5
15 for $10
35 for $20
85 for $50

While controversy may have slightly reigned and injuries might have mounted, primarily fun abounded at the 19th Annual Scecina Memorial High School Footballall Mom's Game. Afterwards all came together as true Crusaders to sing the fight song "Say, win, we can, so here we go again, say S-C-E-C-I-N-A". We also were happy to have new Scecina Principal Dr. Joe Brettnacher address the players and families afterwards before our team meeting and lunch provided by IndyAnna's Catering. All in all, it was a great day after a solid scrimmage ahead of the first week of the regular season. Be at Manual at 7 p.m. on Friday (August 18) as your Crusaders take on Elwood to begin the 2017 campaign. Hopefully the boys run a bit faster, don't drop so many passes, and don't fall quite as much as their moms!

Happy New Year! Having wrapped up our first official practice of the new football year, we bring you Purdue QB David Blough's speech last week at the Big Ten Kickoff Luncheon, "Football Teaches Life" http://ow.ly/Yujb30e3VW5

@ScecinaFootball were the Wild Card winners in the Colts Leadership Challenge Blood Drive for high school football teams in conjunction with the Indianapolis Colts. We were rewarded by being invited to a special program at Lucas Oil Stadium before the Colts' first training camp practice. Former Colt David Thornton @DT_50 gave some important words and advice to the boys about persevering and working hard in everything, academics as well as in football. Afterwards they were able to play on the field and get their pictures taken, especially with the Super Bowl Lombardi Trophy. Congratulations and thank you @ScecinaFootball and Crusader Nation for coming together for this worthy cause.

#ScecinaFootball Seniors volunteered to go to Riley Hospital for Children to interact with the patients and learn more about the amazing young people who truly face challenges as well as the staff who take care of them. Many thanks to Seniors Chris Gray, Jimmy Clinger, Collin Connor, Max Denney, Leonard Love, Andrew Lowery, Phillip Truong and Jack Wright, as well as Coach Hurrle and Coach Purcell, for giving their time and an afternoon to this worthy cause.

Congrats to Scecina alum Toby Jacobs ('92) for receiving IFCA John Friend Service Award. Toby is a teacher & coach at HSE

#ScecinaFootball wishes everyone a Happy 4th of July and thanks our veterans who fought and continue to fight for our freedom. We salute you!

Many thanks to all who came out to our #ScecinaFootball blood drive in conjunction with the Indianapolis Colts' Leadership Challenge and the Indiana Blood Center. We had 44 participants, of which 50% were walk-ins, so thank you to all for your patience. It was a great showing for a first drive, and we look forward to next year! If you were unable to come out, please give the gift of life. During these active summer months, more blood is needed, so find a location at https://www.indianablood.org/locations/Pages/default.aspx and donate today.

#ScecinaFootball would like to wish congratulations to former Chaplain Fr. Peter Gallagher, who celebrated his 25th anniversary of ordination at St. Lawrence in Lawrenceburg today. Fr. Peter was always a mainstay on the sidelines, imploring the players, "Come on, fellas!" and remains a Crusader fan to this day, receiving updates to follow the exploits of our current Crusaders. Thank you, Fr. Peter, for your continued service to the spiritual needs in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis.
