For the last two months I’ve been making a documentary about femicide and violence against women in El Salvador for the BBC News strand 100 Women. El Salvador ranks number one in the world for women murdered by their intimate partner. We spoke to the families of victims, followed the police, met doctors and prosecutors, all fighting to tackle violence against women and address issues of identity and machismo.
I am very proud this documentary was made on the ground by an all girl crew with reporter Patricia Sulbarán @patsulbaran , Radio 4 producer (look out for her Assignment radio 4doc in Jan!) Poppy Damon @poppydamon , editor Silvia Biagioni and filmed and directed by me.
We worked hard to tell this story which is very much a tribute to journalist Karla Turcios who was murdered earlier this year. Link in bio!
