For a momma, there are a lot of milestones- especially with 5 kids. Tomorrow marks a big one for me. For 16 years, I have homeschooled- despite tremendous adversity- one child with autism, one with dyslexia. A full time job for 13 of those years that started at 4am. Tomorrow I start the last year of homeschooling Isaiah and Grace- before they move on to the next thing in their life. They started with big blue eyes and a ton of curiosity at age 3. I still remember their giggles as we wrapped each other up like mummies with toilet paper and tried to make chain mail late into the night on the kitchen table.
It has been a long road. Some days were harder than others. Some days were full of joy and some full of frustration. There have been thousands of faith conversations and hundreds of art projects and games. And math. Too much math.
This will be a tough year as I count down a changing of the guard. Tomorrow is our last book hunt with books hidden all over the house as a kickoff to the new year.
It will be hard, but I know God is doing great things with these kids. And they have so much more ahead of them than behind them. This post is a huge shout out to all the moms that have gone before me- that have watched your kids go. I will be leaning on your strength this year!
Here is to a thousand last "firsts". There is a shifting in the sand and an air of change ahead. And though it is so very hard, I know it will bring even more joy!!! I am so very grateful for our kids- and for who they have grown to be.
