Playing with long exposures at night is a test of patience as well as trial and error, mostly error for me. A 30 second exposure and then another 30 seconds for the camera to process just to see your framing sucks or that you're out of focus - but, if you can hang in there (and stay awake) it makes the cold temps and accidentally sitting on a cactus absolutely worth it.

This photo is taken from the top of the boat that ships to an island that is called "Bonin Island (No Man's Land)" in Japan. 25 hours of boat is the only way to get there and people on the island call this beautiful wave "Bonin Blue."
