#sundaystories . The stage we got to perform at this weekend is one with a whole lot of meaning to me. It may feel like”just another temple stage” but it has been at the core of my existence for a very long time. I’ve seen TM Krishna perform here - Priyadarshini Govind - Ramya aunty - Shobana - the list goes on. Every major troupe from India - musician and dancer - seems to have performed on this stage when it was still kosher for a concert to go past two hours while kids would sleep in their parents’ laps and parents would excitedly request one song or another by slipping the musician a piece of paper. In fact, I saw the dancer who made me beg for classes here. (Couldn’t tell you who it was now though!) . Thank you to @kussummahotsav for letting us be a small part of the history and tradition of this stage. . pictured: @bansiwizard_eric_fraser . #indianclassicalmusic#traditions#bharatanatyam#kathak#kuchipudi#indian#culture#history#bridgewater#indianarts#indianartsintheus
I know it’s not #throwbackthursday but why not? Let’s throw it way back to 8 years ago - where my obsession with weird outdoor photoshoots started. I remember there were little animal holes in the ground everywhere and the photographer scared the living wits out of me by claiming they were cobra nests or burrows or whatnot.
Last sari for a bit...picture 20 of 40 attempts to get the right shot. (To clarify, I got my “I just got dressed up so I better make sure I get a pretty photo in” done waaayyy before the other 30 people standing next to me. ) 😂😂😂 #weddingstyle#sarinotsorry
Second week of saris in San Francisco. Drive East Drives West this week and a huge kudos to @nadhidances of @navadancesf who has been holding down the fort out there and @shri.nyc who is already loading in the theater! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 for all the behind the scenes work you do - the theater draping fabric purchasing platform hauling media partner marketing relationship building pull our hair out hundred hour weeks that is Drive East and then some that is working in a new city and theater. See you soon west coast!
It’s always when you have the most to share that you’re never able to. A shot by @nadhidances of me trying to cover up a 5 minute change by discussing the Dualities in Dance curation choice. I wish we had more time to discuss this!
Proud of a team who works their butt off and hopefully a good omen for a successful Drive East. Always plenty more to learn as a company but happy when it somehow comes together! Not pictured: @email@example.com@nadhidances Sumathi
#dancechallenge! Student Kingsley called this a “mind laugh” for taking a basic ta tai Tai ta and switching up the hands a bit. They couldn’t get to 4th speed - can you? Tag me and @navatman or send us a video of you trying it out!
