Folks we apologize for the long delay between Mentor Profiles! The end of the school year kept us all very busy. This is a very special mentor profile because we are spotlighting the brains behind Running 505: Melani Buchanan Farmer!
Melani has a passion for Education from Pre-k through higher education and connections to wellness for success for everyone in our greater community. She grew up being active by hiking with her parents, playing soccer and swimming on teams. It wasn't until high school that she understood what Running did for her mind that she began hitting the roads and trails. Her favorite races are Chicago and Acoma Seed Run. Friends and Family are very important to Melani, spending time talking with them, watching movies, and having lots of laughs. When not participating in Running 505, you'll find Melani teaching at New Mexico Higlands University in the School of Education. This is her fourth year with Running 505, after developing the program during her Ph.D. research looking at how wellness affects our middle school age kids.
Wow! Melani, thank you for being so passionate about what you do because students and mentors become infected with your enthusiasm as well. 🏃🏽♀️❤️ #running505 #mentorspotlight #nmtrue #runninginthedukecity
