DIVISI 62 portrays our ancestries through creating a fictional family tree based on found photographs that were taken between the 1940s-1950s. This system is a trace of our lineage and becoming with retrospect to human DNA traits, the process of rediscovery, and reproduction. to give a vision of musical heritage, different types of kendang are linked to the family tree that resembles the resonation and repetition of the oral tradition and biological sequence throughout generations.

DIVISI 62 grounds their sonic practice in the principles of musique concrete, where they liberate themselves from having to use musical instruments as sound sources. serves as an attempt to apply the mechanism of electronic tools, it is also an homage to the "ngoprek" culture by repurposing reclaimed wood and leftover milk cans that produces looping rhythmic patterns.

DIVISI 62 proposes that locating our stance within the network that appears beyond our control is attainable, despite its chaotic nature. DIVISI 62 simulated its complexity through a mapping of dissection of the schemes of telegeography, internationalism, and commerce. the Silk Road, one of the most prominent trading routes of the ancient times is represented here with the ropes. the cables visualize the major submarine internet fiber optics network around the globe, showing our past and current idea of connectivity. at certain points, information reaches a state of overload - therefore burnt. the endless measuring scale and the spiral steel hint on the tension and speed in response to global trade and communications.

The first Asian-African Conference in Bandung, 1955 marked a summit of leaders from Afro-Asian countries that had recently gained their independence. the initiator, President Soekarno, brought up the agenda of a new world that is free from imperialism, slavery, and exploitation. By drawing inspiration from Soekarno's opening speech in the conference, Danishwara Nathaniel photographed the streets of Bandung to search the colonial wounds and the promises of that conference. Bebas Terbatas is accompanied by a music composition by Wahono sets this piece as a physical confinement while we gaze toward utopian imageries of freedom.
“Colonialism has also its modern dress, in the form of economic control, intellectual control, actual physical control by a small but alien community within a nation. It is a skilful and determined enemy, and it appears in many guises. It does not give up its loot easily. Wherever, whenever and however it appears, colonialism is an evil thing, and one which must be eradicated from the earth." President Soekarno's opening speech at the 1955 Asian African Conference

Carot replaces human hands with MIDI-controlled motors in order to play the technically demanding kecapi. Though the kecapi can be found in different parts of the world under varying names, in Indonesia it is commonly associated with sacred Sundanese music styles. As the mechanism changes in this work, the instru- ment is now desacralized. This makes the kecapi accessible to musicians that are not well-versed in the Sundanese musical heritage, enabling them to shift the instrument out of its initial context. At the same time, Carot introduces Sundanese tradition into a wider audience. The change in timbre - from hand plucks to motor rotations - brings up the inhuman aspect of this technique, inviting us to to weigh the pros and cons of automation.

As a medium that has the ability to recreate experience, the video is of the prime interest to @divisi62. It is also commonly utilized as a weapon in propaganda and political contestation. By using a National Srikandi television from the 1980’s, it signals the autocratic aura of the medium and illusion of the time to the spectator. This piece was primarily sourced from You Tube to mirror the information consuming process and the distorted “truth” of today. The selection of videos shows the contrasting characteristics and different gestures to public speaking from Indonesian political figures.
