Congratulations to Cadet of the Week: Ben Stanger. Cadet Stanger is from Madison, Alabama. Stanger is an MSIV and BN XO in the Gamecock Battalion. Throughout his career at JSU, he has maintained a 3.5 GPA with a degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Military Science. Recently, Cadet Stanger was selected to branch EOD for his Army Career. He is also a Volunteer Firefighter and EMS in the city of Jacksonville. Throughout his ROTC Career he has participated in a CULP mission to Gabon, Africa, CTLT to The 25th Infantry Division , and Basic/Advanced Camp. Some hobbies he enjoys include: hiking, working out, playing sports, and running. Cadet Stanger is a great leader within our program and will make a great Army Officer. #GoGamecocks #GamecockBattalion

Gamecock Battalion Cadet of the Week: Hayden Radford Cadet Radford is from Oxford, AL and graduated from Oxford HS. He is currently an MSII Squad Leader and is majoring in Computer Science. While at JSU, he has maintained a 3.2 GPA and excels at PT. Aside from schooling, Cadet Radford also works at Wal-Mart as a Cashier. Somethings he enjoys include: computer programming, working out, and recreational sports. Cadet Radford is also a member of the SMP program. Upon graduation and commissioning, Cadet Radford is hoping to branch into the Infantry. #GoGamecocks

Cadet of the Week: Timothy Vest. Cadet Vest is from Gadsden, Alabama and graduated from Gadsden City High. He is majoring in Respiratory Therapy. Throughout his career at JSU, he has maintained a 3.2 GPA. Cadet Vest also works at Gadsden Regional Medical Center and is a Youth Leader at his Church. In the Gamecock Battalion, he is a leader in the MSII Class and holds the position of Squad Leader. Cadet Vest loves to go running, hiking, playing football, and spending time with his friends and family. Cadet Vest will be branching into the National Guard hoping to be an Artilleryman. #GOGAMECOCKS

The Gamecock Battalion Cadet of the Week is Khiry Smith. Cadet Smith is from Birmingham, Al and graduated from Wenonah High School in 2014. He is currently working towards a B.S. in Cellular and Molecular Biology and a minor in Chemistry as well as Military Science. Throughout his years at JSU, Cadet Smith has maintained an exceptional 3.61 GPA and a PT score of 292. As a Gamecock Battalion Cadet, he has participated in Ranger Challenge, Scabbard and Blade, and been the Battalion S-3. Cadet Smith is also a leader outside of Academics. He is currently the Chapter President of the Xi Xi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Cadet Smith plans to commission in December 2018 into the National Guard as a Transportation Corps Officer.

Congratulations to the following 2nd Lieutenants who commissioned and will graduate on 15 December 2017: Savanah Booker (National Guard Nursing), Rachel White (National Guard Signal), Scott Suggs (National Guard Medical Service), and Jala Harris (Active Duty Quartermaster).

Come celebrate Veterans today at the JSU Quad from 1:00 PM-5:00 PM. There will be many events to participate in, the National Guard will be providing the Rock Wall and Football throw. Come CHALLENGE yourself and be sure to thank a Veteran for their service! #GoGamecocks

The Gamecock Battalion Ranger Challenge Team went to work this week and competed against the following Universities for the past 2 days: Univ of Alabama, Univ of Alabama at Birmingham, Auburn Univ, Auburn at Montgomery, Univ of North Alabama, Alabama A&M, Tuskegee, Univ of South Alabama and West Florida at Oak Mountain. Great job Ranger Challenge! Graded events included:

Day 1: Army Physical Fitness Test, Written Test, Weapons Assembly and Disassembly

Day 2- Recon Lane, Combat Casualty Care, Rope Bridge; Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense Lane, Zodiac Race, approx. 15 miles ruck march to the events.

The Gamecocks went to work this AM with a 4 mile run on the trail. Bring your friends and family to Struts today and support the Gamecock Battalion. Just mention "JSU ROTC" when paying your ticket. #GamecockBattalion #FearTheBeak
