There is beauty in simplicity....always
I don’t usually post b/w images but I just had to share this iPhone snap I took at the @thenordicwayworkshop back in September. I love the simplicity of this photo and the emotion that it captures. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I'm making it a goal this year to practice my photography skills. What goals have you set yourself for 2018?

You guys, I've loved seeing all the excited posts and messages from newly engaged couples over the past few days! One thread of conversation that keeps popping up is how to choose a wedding venue; which is no surprise considering the venue will be one of the biggest decisions you'll make for your entire wedding day. ⠀

I know all too well that it can be very confusing and at times frustrating trying to find the perfect venue. There are so many to choose from, and you end up spending weekend after weekend trailing around every type of venue in your area, until you just can't look anymore. Overwhelm sets in and then you feel stressed because you know you need to book a venue asap, but you don't know what to pick or nothing is grabbing your attention. ⠀

Firstly, BREATHE! Please don't make any rash decisions. Before you even consider booking a venue tour, spend some time together dreaming big about your wedding day. If money was no object what kind of day would you have? What have you always dreamed of? Do you want a laid back vibe or something more sophisticated? Write it all down, really get a sense of what your priorities are. THEN...you can start to put the pieces together. If you have a vision from the start, it will help you to narrow the search. Otherwise too many choices will just result in decision fatigue which is never fun! ⠀

If you are currently looking for your perfect venue, I'd love to hear how you're getting on in the comments below. Or maybe you've already found your perfect venue and want to share? ⠀

Newly Engaged?
It's such an exciting time and I'm sure you're still on cloud 9! However I know all too well that once that excitement has died down, those feelings can turn to fear, stress, overwhelm...and everything else in between.
Becoming engaged is one of those moments that should absolutely be celebrated, and you should take your time to revel in all the excitement with your other half. There is no rush to jump into planning mode straight away. Live in the present, enjoy the now - because trust me, before you know it you WILL BE in full force planning mode!
And whilst planning a wedding can be one of the most amazing experiences, it can also become a bit too much sometimes. When you're already trying to split your time between a full time job, family commitments, a social life, hobbies etc - sometimes finding time to even plan a wedding can be near impossible, and confusing. With so many "how to guides" posted out there, it can be a minefield just trying to figure out where to even start.
How do you know what's right for you as a couple? What kind of wedding do you really want? Wedding planning isn't about just ticking off a series of tasks from a checklist.
Once you've come back down to earth and you're ready to hit the ground running with your planning - have a read of my guide by following the link my profile.
And if you are considering hiring a wedding planner then I'd love to chat with you. Simply book in for a free consultation so we can chat about your vision and get a feel for how I might be able to best help you. Click on the link in my profile above 👆🏻

Engagement season will soon be here and I’m so excited to meet lots of wonderful couples who are getting married in 2018/2019. ⠀⠀
I love seeing all the gorgeous engagement rings and hearing stories about how each particular ring was chosen. Sometimes the groom has designed a ring especially for his sweetheart, other times a couple has chosen a ring together. And sometimes the ring has been passed down as a family heirloom, ready for more treasured memories to be created. ⠀ ⠀

I saw this image and just had to share it. Beautiful ring by @victorbarbonejewelry and photographed by @nicolecolwellphotography

If there’s one thing I always advocate for its investing in a professional photographer for your wedding day. But choosing a photographer can become quite overwhelming, especially as there are so many great photographers and they each have their own unique style. ⠀
I’ve shared over on the blog why I LOVE film photography and why you should consider film for your fine art wedding. There’s nothing more beautiful than the luminous, tangible quality of film images. ⠀

Don’t just take my word for it though; I’ve also shared advice from some of my favourite fine art film photographers like @sarahcarpenterphotography who captured this gorgeous image.⠀

I’d love for you to go read the post and share your comments below. Link in profile 👆🏻 Have you chosen your wedding photographer yet? ⠀

Enjoying a slow Sunday morning at home today, staying warm and cozy inside. The boys are in their pjs, watching Home Alone (Liam’s favourite film at the moment!) and then later today we’re taking them to visit Santa. ⠀

How are you spending today? ⠀

Image shot on my iPhone during the workshop

My current view doesn’t quite involve this gorgeous yellow sapphire ring from @london_victorian_ring_co - however it does include relaxing pool side on a sun lounger and enjoying the last full day of our family trip to Florida, watching Jake swimming to his hearts content and Liam building a fort in the sand. And tomorrow we will fly home, savouring these memories and dreaming about what our 2018 season will be like.
Happy Tuesday friends, I hope it’s a good one! 📷: @selinamerie from the @thenordicwayworkshop

Hi, I'm Gemma! It's a pleasure to have you here in my little corner of Instagram. ⠀

It's not very often I post photos of myself on here because I don't consider myself very photogenic or even confident in front of the camera. But I couldn't resist sharing this image taken by @samanthajamesphoto at the @trouvailleworkshop because this right here...this is me, in my happy place. This is me doing something which I absolutely love to do. And I sure did love this day day at The Trouvaille Workshop. Whilst I've attended a few different floral workshops now, this was the first time that I'd picked up some blooms and actually felt like I knew what I was doing. Don't get me wrong, I still have a lot to learn but I've really been enjoying my floral journey and I'm excited to learn even more and become a better designer so I can serve my clients better. ⠀

Hope you all have a gorgeous Friday, and an even better weekend. ⠀

I love the creative process and designing a concept that is thoughtful, approachable, simplistic and beautifully inspired. Over the last couple of years I've really been working hard to hone my design skills and even though I love spreadsheets and checklists, the design process is literally my most favourite thing to do! I love taking the time to really understand my clients to define their personal vision for their wedding day. Having in-depth conversations to understand their priorities, their wants and wishes, and what kind of mood and energy they want to create for their guests. ⠀

Every couple I work with is special and unique in their own right, and they deserve a wedding day which is as equally special and unique, where their personal style, character and love story is intentionally woven into custom details to create a genuinely unique experience that leaves guests feeling completely loved on. ⠀

I believe in the power of stories and in love. I believe in celebrating the ordinary and the extraordinary, and I believe a celebration should be honoured in a graceful, timeless and authentic way that pulls on the heartstrings and sparks the creation of a beautiful legacy. ⠀

Do you want to learn more about how we celebrate weddings differently? ⠀

A moment captured by @juliemphotos of beautiful Tess during our coastal styled shoot last summer.⠀

I'm so excited to be working with Julie again for #thenordicwayworkshop. Day one has almost wrapped up, and tomorrow we'll be working with the attendees on the editorial styled shoot tomorrow.⠀

It's been a while since I've post anything on here, but something exciting has happened today and I couldn't resist sharing it with you all!
Back in March, myself and some of my favourite wedding friendors embarked on a little road trip to the beautiful and picturesque North Yorkshire Moors near Whitby. Some days you just need to get out and spend a day doing what you love the most and getting those creative juices flowing with people you admire! It's been a long wait to be able to share these images with you all, but the wait was worth it and I'm so honoured and overjoyed that @weddingsparrow is featuring them today. I do hope you'll head over and take look.
